You're welcome.
So something i haven't seen asked or discussed in great detail since it was said is about third party apps / add-ons which will be allowed for this game?
Do you guys think there will be many made? Will it be dependent on individuals or will SE release some? I was never really close to the WOW add-ons or that community but do know it was huge! Did it just take a few people to kick it off and then loads started getting made?
There will be plenty addons made. Creating useful addons and being the first is major e-peen, that is enough motivation.
Yes, SE is allowing addons for the game, they've mentioned it before long ago.
From people that have looked into the game, as I'm told it will be very easy to make addons for the game. As to why there are no addons yet? Its beta, things can change, including the way addons work. Probably won't see anything for a few weeks.
Some may just wait till SE releases some dev kit for it instead.
The couple of months before SE releases their official SDK will be more than enough time for would-be developers to cook up ideas. I could def see them releasing it early, or naming the software its being based on, kicking off an early sprint for pre-SDK addons via overlay screens (a'la appradar).
My mind wants to say that they've said the SDK won't be ready by release, but I certainly didn't go digging for any official word.
The Windower guys are working on some add-on's without the SDK from what i hear.
Edit: Auctually its some other group... not the windower guys.
If I actually start playing I imagine I'd probably start developing my own add-ons as well, although it majorly depends on the language used. Back in ffxi I always screwed around with manually editing the memory and stuff. The only thing that kept me from making a bot or something was a lack of knowledge regarding manipulating process memory in windows via the proper library. I still haven't actually looked into that shit properly, but I've got a lot more programming experience than back then.
