I don't think Sleipnir has ever had the "correct" number of legs in any FF game. It's usually 6 or 4.

Pros and cons to it, I think. One character makes you easier to keep track of instead of having friends knowing your multiple alt names. Some might get around this by linking friends lists to accounts, but usually guilds are still alt-specific. From the dev standpoint, it means people aren't repeating content as much. Some people like to associate certain characters with certain looks, like maybe a Galka for your WAR or a Taru for a BLM. So in a game where it's one-char-fits-all, you may have people feel overwhelmed by having to do everything twice or more, especially if the game is balanced around the assumption we do it all on one character. There's also the potential loot whore element where someone just has to lot because maybe one day they might level that and use it when someone there could use it now. Though, that's more a case of why RNG can suck and keeping player politics as far away as possible is a good thing.
There's some more to it I'm not thinking of off the top of my head, but I'm of the mind I'd like more games to do it, too. Just something where you can learn every spell and ability, but have point costs tied to as well as potentially level restricted slots. Maybe not FFTish directly, but close.
Dem screenshots . . .
Little late to the party, but Aion broke 2 million, and had nearly 4million subscribers worldwide at NA launch. Up until mid 2012 they had more than 2million subscribers (anything past then is their F2P era in the western markets and numbers are meaningless). Yes a lot of those numbers are for Korea/Asia, but so are Lineage1/2 and even WoW's vast majority of subscribers are from the Asian markets. Hence Blizzard repeatedly saying "the loss is mostly from China/Asia".
you bitches be showing of your tri-monitor setup been outdone, Yoshi be 6 monitor ballin

They seriously need to stop showing us all this "flavor" crap on their "developers blog" and give us some real information. Hell I would take a dev blog on how they decided how high the "jump" would be and why a lalafell can jump over an Elvaan's head. Something that actually is game related, not Yoshida checking out the color differences of multiple monitors.
I'd really love to see some more artwork but oh well I guess we'll see alot more pretty soon
lol
You forget where we are posting this... there is no stopping the bitching on BG!
And nah, I seriously would rather have no information if all the info we are getting is pictures of Yoshida testing monitor colors, cosplaying and box art. The last thing of worth we got were Magitek Armor, something that was seen well before now in the final scenes of 1.0. Its not asking for much to see real information coming out of these blog posts. Like I said, even if its talking about how they decided how high jump was supposed to be. How crafting works. Something... After all there will be no NDA on things in 2-3 weeks so why not get out a head of public opinion and start showing off to the world how things have changed.
Speak for yourself lol, I like the openness the dev team have been pushing. Even though it might not be much the very fact that the have embraced the social media outlets this much, is already beyond anything they have done before.
I rather have something than nothing. 1.0 gave us nothing, that didnt end well.
Like the little "withdrawal medicine" they have been dropping on facebook with the image updates is cool.
Even with Tanaka gone, this is still a franchise, if not a whole company, built around the suspense and mystery of discovery. They don't want to just tell you how things work.
Even what we have is a departure from their usual marketing strategy. Look at how SoA got marketed - same way as all the other expansions. They announce it nine months out, and give you maybe two content updates, with teeny-tiny pre-packaged screenshots that were sanitized beyond belief. I mean, yeah, they went to PAX, but they didn't really show anything at PAX you couldn't already see and they didn't do a Q&A.
It's a deeply entrenched culture and it will take a long time to root it all out.
Even after the team restructure took place at least to me some things still seem lacking.
The biggest thing is the PR/Marketing team that still seems to live head up their asses with little concern to the way marketing and PR activities have evolved elsewhere. They might be slightly better than before but compared to the amount of change for the better one can see in general, they're still very inefficient and old-fashioned...
Granted, there is something funny and hilariously Japanese about the LIVE letters especially (Yoshi-P doing w/e the fuck he wants like a boss, Wada's goofiness, Soken) and Fernehalwes' blog posts, while not heavy information wise are entertaining at least. It saves a lot imo.
I get niwaars complaints, information is not really communicated as efficiently as it could be, some things are left unsaid or mentioned in a non-official source somewhere, etc. Also lot of silence and then 3 videos at once + million interviews then a drought again. Questions like are we getting level sync + dungeon finder in phase 3 or not? Yoshi-P mentioned it somewhere vaguely that we are but the roadmap says P4. etc. etc.
One more shitty department is the web team. The account management is still horrible to this day. Hopefully whatever revisions they do will make it considerably less heavy.
So much FFXIII hate in that thread and cries for FFVII remake, almost painful to read.
But SE can fuck off with those mobile games. I have a pretty good smartphone but I don't use it for gaming. I'm not a fan of small screen gaming. Anything on a phone or a handheld console is ignored from me no matter how good it may be. Haven't even played FFVII Crisis Core and given my username that will probably surprise people.
