Showing off Arcanist wearing classic Scholar gear isn't a great idea.
Showing off Arcanist wearing classic Scholar gear isn't a great idea.
I only assumed its Arcanist for two reasons. One its the same Elezen model as the one posted on the main site sitting on the chair Tomb included, hat shit is just Class JSE shit just like the uhh whats that Anya? gear set for THM. Other reason: it's simply being showcased because its New to all existing players, notice how its directly opposite of Summoner. Both these reasons lend to the assumption that it's simply Arcanist. Anything beyond that is pure bat shit speculation.
But yeah the scholars cap doesn't help the nutjobs.
Nope. If they add Two jobs to Arcanist, they must add second Job for everyone else.
Edit: I quit speculating all these bullshit things back when I saw what was going on with 1.0 Alpha/Beta. Until proven beyond reasonable doubt, it's Arcanist.
I think we'll see a lot more of different jobs branching from the same class. We'll probably have job specific weapons of the same type too; i.e. Summoner Books vs. Scholar books. Of course like everyone said it's all speculation. It's just strange to have a class thrown in with all the jobs. However, it could be a cheap way for SE to get Legacy people chatting.
While I would love to see this, the fact that if you are a level 50 Marauder you are a level 50 Warrior presents a problem with multiple jobs branching out of a single class. If Arcanist split into Summoner and Scholar by the logic if you were 50 Arcanist then you would have a 50 of two separate jobs after leveling only 1 of the 2. I doubt that will be how it goes.
I am definitely hopeful that the rumor that we are getting more than just Summoner/Arcanist with launch and that Scholar and its class are coming. A second healer class is a definite need and I loved my scholar in XI.
I take issue with this logic because its irrelevant. One does not Level Warrior, Monk, White Mage, Black Mage, Paladin, or Bard. As such, no one would level Summoner. You level the classes, and as such, may use whichever job is available to that class at any given time. Whether that job is complete shit based on the availability of your Job Abilities, or Access to w/e future content may be restricted to said job, is a completely different topic of discussion.
Try coming to Ifrit Hard Mode with a base 30 unlock White Mage with no job abilities. Edit: Interchange White Mage with whatever flavor job combo you want. You ain't coming to my event if you are not fully invested in playing a certain role.

Actually I'm not clear wth you mean by that really.
Those really aren't CSE (class specific?) because it's CNJ OR THM; MRD OR GLD, etc
Oh man, totally didn't see that. There weren't any class specific armors, save for Weapons, in 1.0. Godamnit, this is about a fkin Hat.
Yeah, and the argument "well it's holding a book!" can't even be used because Summoner isn't holding a book, while every other job (except maybe MNK) has their weapon!
I'm hopeful for SCH but I'm not gonna go crazy.
DAMNIT AMANO† ARTWORK
†I know it's not Amano
Man, remember that time when we first saw the "evil looking" armor (DRG AF) and everyone swore up and down it was DRK? Shit is clearly Arcanist, SE is just banking on that new car smell.
The issue with this mindset is that "jobs" is just the term SE decided to use for specialization. At the core, you still play the same basic class with some extra abilities. Least that's how it is currently. SE is going to end up having to make class after class if the job gets too different from the base class or alter abilities when used as a specific job. They've hinted at DRK stemming from GLA but if that's the case, they'll need to tweak things like Provoke unless they plan to put a different spin on DRK like they did with BRD.
(I secretly want it to be Scholar Job though.) Gimme Samurai already gd ><
;D Still don't know what they are planning to do with Job Skills, but not really. Would be wild if Jobs would in some way augment your class skill set. Would be super easy to differentiate roles beyond Job Skills on multiple Job roles on a single class.
Ultimately though, sticking with class/job leaves you with an inevitable convoluted system for developing new jobs on already existing classes. Shits gonna be so weird, I'm sure they've figured a couple of ways around it by now but gd... When thinking about it from the point of view of traditional FF jobs its pretty difficult, but viewing it from just Specialization is a bit easier on the noggin, make a new one and slap a familiar name on it that would make sense.
