I don't see a problem of having a combination of unique and shared hairstyles as it gives each race a way to differentiate themselves.

Yeah but what happens when you want to play a miqo'te but the hair style you want is on hyur? Happened to me in phase 1. Turns out hyur are cuter anyway so I will probably stick with that plus I'm not a fan of the tail.

I'm just hoping for lots of hairstyles. For some reason if there are only 8 choices everyone ends up picking the same style. At least with all the color options and more sliders, you'll have more chances to differentiate your character.

Regardless, I'll still probably spend about 2 hours in the character creator. Video game character creators are where I've made some of the most difficult decisions in my entire life.

That tends to happen with the actual races looking different, not just their hair. A Lalafell and Miqote with the same hairstyle will still look completely different. Besides, physically every race can wear their hair the same.

Not sure if this has been mentioned and I certainly don't remember the lore being in 1.0 but I hope they go into detail about the origins of the races. I really liked how ffxi did it because you subtely learned about the origins doing the main mission, quests, and just exploring towns.

I love FFXI's lore. I don't often read quest dialogue in other games, but I've always loved Final Fantasy. I still would prefer more cutscenes over random text though ; ;
