I bet they'll eventually announce that this "new MMO" is actually... *drumroll* ... the Final Fantasy XIV for the PS3!
They're going to use this "2nd first impression" opportunity after they are finally done fixing XIV. :3

the new mmo is being made by tanaka and is meant to replace xiv after the new one goes live.
xiv has just been a distraction that they've known was going to fail.
XIV wasn't really rapture, this new MMO is. Everyone just assumed.
Wakfu was Rapture
Here is what I wonder:
How much funding will XIV continue to get if 1.18 patch just completely bombs and people just amp up the complaints to an insane level. Lets say 1.18 is an utter failure, do we see a Blizzard effect like whats going on with WoW currently where you can just tell the funding has been cut to produce Titan. Currently in WoW its taking much much longer to release content and even then the content has been very small and meh @ best which is probably due to a smaller content team producing patches from funding being lower.
With another big MMO set to be announced sometime this year, it really makes you wonder what the fate of this game is going to be if the next few patches don't hit home runs. This is pretty much crunch time for Yoshi-P imo, either he puts up something amazing or crashes and burns.
Funding won't be cut, the shop would be simply closed.
If you don't take it all the way, there's no reason to continue. In this case.
People will find a way to make the patch an utter failure regardless. It'll probably start looking like something decent after 1.19-1.2, so they'll wait until then.
Wada recently announced that they want to revive their current MMOs so I doubt anything named Final Fantasy (which is SE's biggest franchise by far in case someone forgot) will have its budget cut anytime soon.
They're even going to open a test server next month for FFXI and I believe XIV as well. Do you think they'd do that if there were any plans of cutting budget?
Well, he was talking about a "if everything goes wrong" situation.
It's a huge project and Yoshida isn't exactly experienced, so anything is possible. I do have faith in Matsui tho.
The FFXIV forums have a lot of trolls who have no intention of ever playing the game. People will bitch about whatever SE does to the game. That won't stop until SE add a subscription so that the trolls can't access the forum any more. XIV isn't going to be killed before the PS3 release. If that's a failure then it's game over.
lol the entire lodestone forums are full of retarded people who think the game should be where only a few 100 people per server should be max level because they're masochists and believe it should be a 4 month grind of straight 4-5hrs a day to reach the level cap is good game design.
Look at all the crying on there about people leveling too fast, are you serious? lol.
While I don't agree with the crying, leveling isn't very difficult.
^
This, with the right leve's and people to link with, you fly through the levels. However, its a total bore, in FFXI at least you went to different places even though it was usually a new crab, crawler, beetle to kill but shit at least you got to see the world a lot more WHILE leveling up. I almost never see grind parties that aren't 44+ raptor's.
I used to love kuftal tunnel back in the day just to see the entire big room get cleaned out when Guivre popped while I chilled on the side watching people get raped.
I'm one of those who think levelling is too fast, but I do agree it's boring as fuck. You can get 1-50 in three weeks which is crazy. If you make it any faster SE may as well just get rid of it altogether and hand everyone rank 50 on every class.
Levelling shouldn't be difficult because levelling IS NOT content. However I do agree it's boring as shit, but teamspeak conversations do help ease that quite a bit for me. We should have more variety in how we obtain levels, and grind SP ought to be increased about 20%ish so that people don't consider it a waste of time.
Leve SP is the measuring stick for most and it is quite good and fairly fast to a point. I have seen much of the world and grinded in all level ranges and do feel that exploring and seeing what's out there is something everyone should experience and as such SE should make the effort to make grinding a viable alternative to leve-levelling.
Well, let's hope for some info or a letter this week.
The problem with '3 weeks' is that its actually 3 weeks doing leves. Meaning you're actually playing maybe 2 hours per reset if you do the full world tour. If you could do leves non-stop, you're probably looking at something like 36 hours 1-50. Way too fast imo, but there are worse things and that can be easily fixed with cap raises even if they don't touch to pace. I would rather see 1-15 slowed down a tad though, it's almost overwhelming.
I'm not sure how it could be 'funner'. You're killing shit, its either fun or it isn't and that's a matter of preference. I happened to enjoy the release-system because it encouraged fighting big shit and constant camp moving.. even if the system was terrible in every other aspect. I would rather continue to do that over leves, but you cant expect anyone to bother with how much slower it'd be.
Hahaha. No.
You could not level 1 to 50 in 36 hours played.
