From their recent posts about elemental damage, it sounds like there will no longer be the concept of elemental strengths or weaknesses, so that part shouldn't be an issue.

Hasn't that been a huge part of FF in general? elemental strengths and weaknesses?

Slightly off topic, but heres a comment from the devs:

While you can change equipment during battle, the development team confirmed that the battle system wasn't designed to offer that as an advantage. The purpose of the Armoury Chest and gear sets are simply to facilitate changing gear and additional inventory for gear and were not created to be used as a strategy during battle.

- Fists of Fire: Grants bonus to attack while consuming MP. Cannot be used with Fists of Earth or Wind.
- Formless Strikes: Converts melee damage during Fists of Fire/Earth/Wind to magical damage.

- Saber Dance: Boosts double attack rate to 50% immediately after usage, decaying to 20% over the next 30 seconds, while rendering Waltz unusable. Increases effect duration of Sambas by 5% per merit, up to a maximum of 20%. Cannot be used with Fan Dance.

Seems pretty straightforward in comparison.

It was a joke about elemental fists having nothing to do with elements, and having to use a skill to trigger the effects that are implied by their names

FFXI was a nightmare because they designed the whole game with tons of situational sets and the macro system couldn't even support that properly. Unless they design gear like that in XIV we won't see the same thing happening.

Anyways the gear swapping thing could be easily countered with a long enough cooldown on all skills to not make it really viable during combat.

The whole windows CE things is kinda messed up. If you wanted the in-game bonuses that come with ARR CE AND the other physical features, you are kind of screwed it seems. Perhaps I'm misreading that.

Glad im getting CE for PS3
