Im totally confused by all this FFXIV 1.0 CE malarkey now...

Im FFXIV 1.0 CE Windows Owner. I am also a Legacy player.

I want to get all the physical goodies, in games CE goodies and the Pre Order Bonus goodies for A Realm Reborn. I am going to Pre-Order and buy the PS3 CE version of ARR... I presume I will get everything for my main account?

I also have a secondary account that is only the standard version of the game but that is Legacy. I am going to apply the CE bonus code from the PS3 version of the game above to make this account into a CE account. Then to get the pre order stuff im going to pre order a seperate standard PS3 copy of the game. Boom both accounts have everything including early start the only thing i dont get is 30 days free game time?

Yeah you should be alright on all fronts, though buying another PS3 version just for the preorder bonuses is pretty steep if the second account is just a mule / occasional dual-boxer.

What is the deal with having multiple SE accounts (not service accounts, SE accounts)? I see no reason to really link my SE service accounts under a single umbrella other than minor account maintenance / token convenience. I assume that if one service account is banned, they ban the full SE account? Or is that not the case.

From my understanding, having 1.0 ce and legacy only gets you the baby behemoth, behemoth barding, hat, and coeurl mount. Whatever account gets the ps3 ce will get those as well as the cait sith and the other thingy.

I suppose if I am just using the PS3 CE for the Pre Order code and im going to get a second PS3 normal copy i may as well just use the Pre Order bonus code from the standard edition with my main 1.0 CE Legacy account. Then use the PS3 CE and Code for the standard 1.0 Legacy account.

The pre-order code is separate from the PS3 registration code. To get everything evenly spread between accounts:

• 1.0 CE + Legacy service account should have the PS3 standard edition registration code and pre-order code applied.
• 1.0 Standard + Legacy service account should have the PS3 CE registration code and pre-order code applied.

This will give you all pre-order and CE bonuses, as well as the ability to play on PS3 for both accounts. The reasoning is that while the pre-order codes are separate, the in-game items for the PS3 (and the Windows) CE are tied to the product registration code, unlike the 1.0 CE which had a separate code. Applying the PS3 CE code to your service account effectively upgrades it to CE status. This is also the reason why the Windows ARR CE code can't be used to upgrade a 1.0 standard account.

While this update did clear the air greatly, all the whinging over the PC-to-PC CE upgrade is nonsense. $10 more for the PS3 version, and all your problems are solved. Or just go halfsies on a CE with someone that doesn't want the physical goods.

I thought very early on they had said that everyone would be getting a free month at the start of ARR, and now it looks like we have a dev post that conflicts with that. Certainly assuming that Legacy people will pay up makes sense, but people who originally purchased the game and quit after a month or so are going to be less likely to return to check it out if they have to pay. Seems like an odd decision.

Are you sure the preorder code is separate for PS3?

Redeeming you Pre-Order Bonus Items
By registering the early access code for PC (Product Code for PS3) before December 31, 2013, you will receive your pre-order bonus items upon the release of the game.

"Product Code" sounds like you get one code for the PS3 version.

Before Meteor: Final Fantasy XIV Original Soundtrack Blu-ray Will Bring Back the Music of the Original FFXIV

Many agree that the soundtrack of the original Final Fantasy XIV was one of the best parts of the game, especially due to the inspired scoring by the popular composer Nobuo Uematsu. Most of those tunes are gone as the musical score has been completely redone for Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, even if we recently learned that Uematsu-sensei will make a comeback in the new game.

Those that loved the music of the original game still have something to look forward to, as Square Enix will release a music blu-ray titled Before Meteor: Final Fantasy XIV Original Soundtrack, that will hit the Japanese shelves on August the 14th (just two weeks before the release of A Realm Reborn)

The soundtrack will cost 5,250 yen (about 51 bucks), and will include all the tracks used for the original game, including those composed after its release by Masayoshi Soken, Tsuyoshi Sekito and Naoshi Mizuta, in addition to those by Nobuo Uematsu.

It will also come with a bonus track that will feature the “The End of an Era” trailer with the music recorded in 5.1.

Fans that will purchase the blu-ray will also get a code to download a special “Dalamud minion” for Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn. Before you hurry to import the soundtrack, though, you may want to consider that those bonus codes are normally region locked, so you may not be able to apply them to a North American or to an European account.

There’s still no official word of a possible western release, even if Square Enix Music normally does release a lot of its Japanese soundtracks in the west, at least on iTunes. All we can do is keeping our fingers crossed.

Update: me and a few others asked Soken-sensei directly on Twitter about a western release and he replied with a classic “Stay tuned”-like response, which is still definitely better than a “no”.

Pre order code will be emailed before early access begins so it will have to be seperate from the registration/CE code. Xanthe is right, giving the PS3 CE codes to his 1.0/legacy standard account gets him all bonuses and giving his 1.0 CE the standard PS3 code will get him the only thing it needs, pre order bonuses.

I believe the 'free period' that people remember hearing about was actually the free period that was present at the end of 1.0, not intended at the beginning of 2.0.
