No traits until lv12 is interesting. I think it's a good idea, players always want more skills asap early on.
And pretty cool that aero and other spells are becoming instant
Generally, most of the battle changes are sweet. Keep on rocking, Yoshi.

Anyone else notice that Emiri Katou was the only one on the whole list who had a different picture reflection? Not that it matters... I only really noticed after googling her and being horrified by dat grill.
Cure working as intended is kind of lame but not really a big deal when you consider all the other changes, man so excited.

I like the adjustments Yoshi is making, especially to battle related stuff and open world grinding. Forums are gonna be filled with fun.
Those notes were for the most part worthless to me. It may be that the translated notes were just terrible. I mean, I saw plenty of instances where the answer didn't address the question at all. Especially the elemental damage one.
I'm very impressed by how much they are considering when it comes to changes and improvements. You can tell they have a logic and a gameplan for what they want to accomplish, and sometimes that can be half the battle. I really like how when something can't or won't be changed, they talk briefly about the reason why instead of simply saying "no". It leaves me with a very good feeling for the direction of the game.
spoilers: there's only resistance not weakness is p much the tl;dr
At the risk of NDA:
Why doesn't elemental damage increase with our attributes?
Allowing players to strengthen their elemental attacks via raising elemental attributes would render it extremely difficult to preserve battle balance.
Thinking in the long run, and taking into account the future addition of new classes and jobs, we have decided to adopt the spec whereby elemental attributes affect damage taken. as opposed to enhancing damage dealtbold is mine obviDo classes and elemental magic have an identity?
You're all probably thinking "Wouldn’t that make it pointless to choose between Fire and Blizzard, as they’d only be different in graphics?" We're working to make sure that's not the case.
I know you all have only had conjurer to play with so far in the beta test, but please keep in mind this class was meant to be primarily support. The value of its spells lie in the effects they offer, not necessarily their element.
How does attacking with elemental magic not fall under elemental resistances? I mean the start of the question was "How do weakness and resistance work", so what else is supposed to be said that wasn't said already?
Confused.
To be clear - the question asked boiled down to "Will wind attacks do extra damage to fire monsters, and what damage (if any) will fire do?"
The answer given just breezed past that question and spent most of the space saying "You can resist things!" and "No, moron, you can't stack ice resist and raise your ice damage!". As Rocl points out, there's a little nugget buried in the end of the third section which answers it, but it's far from clear.
There have been other posts basically stating that the answer is "all spells will do equal damage without regards to element" and then some nebulous stuff about possibly resist rates, but the post linked in response to this answer did not answer the question being asked.
I already know how this is supposed to work because this question was asked/answered a couple of months ago. I'm not complaining about the answer given then - it is what it is, I don't like it, but tough shit.
I'm saying that the question asked doesn't say anything about player elemental resistance and the response post talks chiefly about that.
I mean, really. The question says "Hey, how will this work?" and gives three options. The answer corresponds to #1.
How hard would it have been to say "The system most closely matches #1. For more details, look here." ?
So what you said earlier about it not answering/addressing the question was wrong then? OK.
Both my complaint and the text were poorly worded.
Go ahead, have fun with it.
Well we kinda have, for months now, but it is what it is.
On-topic, I wonder if the cure issue being "intended" is going to give them issues down the road.
There's a lot of crying on the beta forums about the lack of boring old mob grinding. I wish they'd fuck off back to XI already. When are these whiners going to accept that the game isn't for them? Are we stuck with them until it's time to pay?
