Anyway, my version of the summary of that Live Letter:

Q: Do you need a different (new) code for the PS4 version aside from the PS3?
A: TBA

Q: Why did you decide to annouce the PS4 version before the PS3 version is even out?
A: Wanted to announce at E3 where we have the whole world's attention.

Q: Does the PS4 version come with its own special in-game items?
A: No. We don't want to discourage customers to buy the PS3 version or force customers to buy the PS4 version for the sake of items.

Q: Do you need a PS+ membership to run the PS4 version?
A: A Sony representative actually came up to us during this conference and said they'd like to talk about out it when we return to Japan. TBA

Q: When is the PS4 version release date?
A: Sometime in 2014. Might be earlier than expected. But then again, this is Square Enix time we're talking about. (they actually said this)

Q: Any perks to switching over from the PS3 to the PS4 version?
A: TBA, but there will be.

Q: Any plans on changing your plans for the server transfer process you have planned when setting up the Data Centers?
A: No changes planned. However, we'll try to follow up on any problems players might have during the process.

Q: Can new players create new characters on Legacy servers?
A: Yes.

Q: Can you provide us any new details about Frontline? (PvP)
A: Planning to implement in Patch 2.2 or 2.3. An entire zone will be dedicated to PvP. The start location will depend on which Grand Company you've enlisted in. There will be things like Ballistas (Catapults) which crafters can create.

Q: Any time restrictions on PvP?
A: It will be open 24/7.

Q: Will the hate list be color only? Numbers only?
A: It has become color only.

Q: Can we apply for the content finder under different class/jobs?
A: After applying under the class/job you want to join under, you may freely switch between other classes/jobs thereafter. Once the invite comes, you must then switch back to the class you've applied in.

Q: Can the barber shop apply face paint and scars as well?
A: Face paint yes. Scars not sure, but probably no.

Q: When can we see the DX11 version?
A: It won't be something like 1 or 2 years. It will be somewhat faster.

Q: Will the story be different depending on the starting city?
A: Play Phase 3 and see for yourself.

Just confirming this is true. When you go into the store it says you will be entered for a chance to win a beta code if you download the trailer.

Most interesting. I've heard that Microsoft has all but punted on Japan for the next gen, but what's your opinion on the hardware situation Stanislaw? Do you think they could pull off a transition from PS3 to PS4+PC only once PS3 gets too long in the tooth?

In terms of Microsoft's Xbox in Japan, it really has no chance outside of a niche market since Microsoft's strategy is all focused in NA. In terms of a possibility of ditching the PS3 version for the PS4 + PC only, I find that highly unlikely given SE's track record for FF11 and PS2.


Edit: I should add, however, that I wouldn't be that much surprised if they do decide to go that route.

FF11 had the advantage of launching only what, 2 years into the PS2's lifespan though? The PS3 has been around for 8 now and visibly struggling to muster passable ports of PC games. I understand what you're saying but I think the situation is different enough to warrant the possibility. I am looking forward to the next generation however, with everything x86 based we should be seeing better ports all around.

Dragon Quest X launched on Wii on August 2012 just 4 months before the release of the Wii U. Then they released it for Wii U on March 30 of this year. ARR situation will be basically the same, game released on PS3 4 or so months before the launch of the PS4 and the PS4 version releasing 4 months later.

Actually, yeah I did haha. I always remove everything between beta tests for most things I've beta tested. I hate running into issues where shit screws up because of an old beta build installed.
