Thanks.
Thanks.
I hope I can read the text on this game from my couch >.>
That concept of chaining FATEs seems pretty cool.
People and NPCs running in place and rubberbanding
Must've been recorded at E3 amirite
I doubt it was.
I wonder if 300 F.A.T.E means 300 scenarios, not including their branching paths, or 300 total, including the branching paths. If it's the latter, 300 isn't really a lot; GW2 probably had close to 100 total events, in each zone alone, and there were still a lot of times zones felt empty, even during the launch. Actually, it went from the extreme of so many people you couldn't do an event, to having nobody around to do any events, depending on how fast you leveled, but I digress.
Anyone feel like giving a sense of how many FATE they saw, in the starting areas, and whether it felt like there were a lot to do, or just on occasional thing you saw while you were oot and aboot doing quests/running to dungeons?
No one can answer that till release, since beta 1 and 2 was limited to Gridania and well beta 3 while it will have many more zones will still be limited. But, from what I did see event frequency can actually be tweaked in real time, which is pretty nice, and since this is something that can be added and patched in over time, I really am not concerned too much.
I don't doubt that they'll continue to adjust the frequency and quantity of FATEs, however, in the betas so far, there were only a handful--never more than 10--of different FATEs per zone. This is counting each FATE in a branching path as a distinct separate FATE. They didn't happen often enough for there to always be a FATE on the map at any given time, and it felt a lot like the latter part of your quote. While doing leves/quests, I would rush over to any FATE that spawned, and only rarely would I just sit around waiting for FATEs because I would spend more time sitting than playing. On several occasions I tried to do DoH or DoL in between FATEs, but since there is literally zero warning before a FATE pops, the forced cooldowns on all my skills because I had changed jobs almost always made trying to do it this way utterly pointless since the FATEs didn't last long.
I fully suspect the 300 number to include every single FATE, including whatever branching paths there may be.
Seconding Taki. Its been around for awhile; Rift may have been the first large-scale MMO to do it, but its always something that a MMO should strive to include.
Hell, you can almost call the Besieged events a predecessor, with us having to recap the Astral C. if they yoinked it.
Edit: I remember Anet saying that they'd continue to add public quests for all of their zones, regardless of level. I know they've added the new evolving storylines and such, but I can't confirm how often they've actually just went back to a starter zone and added new permanent shit into it.
Play button is already working, but can't go much further from the main screen:
Spoiler: show
Edit: Play button isn't enabled anymore.
Mine still greyed and undefined.
Its not... friday yet so I don't think, you can play yet...? O_o
Also "stuff" has been moved to a new location, so... if you want stuff, you best get it before it disappears~ (and no don't flood this thread requesting stuff)
It won't disappear. Said stuff is tucked away just right from my understanding. All it takes is a question, the right question, to get it.
When's that Scholar info dropping, gd I'll be at the office till late today...
