Well, to be quite frank, that usually is the case, yes. You're not just scribbling down some doodles on parchment, you're also channeling your energy into said runes. Basically the act of writing itself is part of the casting process, similar to how mages have gestures and certain phases when they cast a spell. The words, gestures, and writings themselves don't actually do anything in and of themselves; instead, they serve as a way to help focus the mage's mind while casting, similar to a pre-fight routine or the like prepares the fighter for battle. It's used to put them in the right frame of mind and increase their efficiency. Writing it before hand then using it later generally doesn't do you a lick of good.

That said, a lot of games do have magically charged runes and the like, where you spend the energy beforehand to make a rune, that gets used later. However, considering calling forth summons and the like will probably cost MP, it's fairly safe to say that this isn't the case for scholar, and they're doing it on the fly.

Now I'm going to have to level Scholar, wasn't expecting it to be a pet class. I'm interested to see what kind of "Modes" the Fairy can go into. Summoner looks good too, I'm wondering how you'll get the summons or egee (sp?) as they called it in the video. Feet gear just better be called Pigaches.

I'm kinda glad multiple jobs can stem from classes. It makes it slightly easier to create jobs, since you won't have to make an entirely new class as well. You'll just have to add the job quests, items, and JSE abilities. I think there's lots of potential. Part of me hopes that with increases in level caps only jobs can advance past a certain level and classes cap at 50.

Nope, it worked! I realized that I wasn't logging in under the new "profile" on the system. Made a new profile, made sure I logged in, entered in new PSN ID, redeemed code and it worked!

Maybe an electronic analogy would help? A magical rune is like a capacitor holding energy till its used after which its just a word and like a capacitor holding it too long may result in a loss of energy and reduced effect. So you are better off writing (charging) each rune just before you want to use it.
