I tend to friend list people that, do decent in instances, I don't just add every single person I ever group with >.>
Also friendlist some people that are helpful, or miqo'tes I randomly find....
This. I have a Flist for people whose company I enjoy. When I que for a dungeon finder, I que not because I want to make friends, but because I want to clear that dungeon ASAP when my friends are offline or are otherwise indisposed. Its not about happy joy funtime or dragging out what should be a 30-minute dungeon run into a solid hour because everyone gets to shooting the shit and goofing off.
Say your hellos, get to work in the dungeon, get your loot and get out and have fun somewhere else. To each his own.
Why are you saying "This" when quoting Gulkeeva? He just said that he flists people who do well in dungeons, yet a few minutes ago you implied that not being able to do this is acceptable for this game. How are we going to flist people after good runs if the game does not support it?
This has absolutely nothing to do with the intent of queuing up, but the results of doing so. In Warcraft when dungeons go well you keep on queuing together. Sometimes, Battletag invites are sent at the end of the runs.Originally Posted by Lucavi
Making friends is not the intent of the dungeons, it's a side-effect which is removed if the game has outdated cross-server systems. I'm sorry if my admittedly overly dramatic response made you think I meant otherwise.
Happy joy funtime does not have to mean being retarded in a dungeon and dragging it on for an hour. I pity you if you think so. Happy joy funtimes can equate to being efficient too.Originally Posted by Lucavi

Umm Making friends in an online game is entirely up to you. Sure the way the game works can affect social connectivity but do you want dungeons to be a social event? Do you want them to be super hard and an hour long where you need Good (read above average) players all the time?
How social you get within 30 mins of play time is completely up to you. I can see how cross-server flists and chat can hold back a community but Id rather have cross server for quicker queues and 30 mins of playtime with people on another server then none at all.
Hopefully there is going to be social content, casual content, and hardcore content. Dungeons and duty finder content seem fairly standard in just about every MMO. I almost can't believe people are bitching because if there wasnt any duty finder or dungeons or if it didnt work like it is now, people would still bitch.
I still find it kinda funny. "WHA SE doesnt want us to socialize in dungeons" Did they disable chat? wtf is your problem.
Did you not bother to actually read any of the past posts or are you responding to unseen opinions from different forums? If that post is actually a response to the past page then I'm simply baffled.
If I meet better players on other servers via content finder, then hell yes I will want to requeue with them when doing other shit via content finder. That's a hugely desired component to any cross-server functionality, and while I won't say it's a dealbreaker, it will suck having to churn through randoms no matter what.
Seriously, asking for the ability to flist someone in a dungeon run doesn't mean wasting time with chit-chat & jibber-jabber. It means having a way to contact & group up again with people who you liked playing with and weren't drooling idiots. Random pugs are generally always worse than people who have played together previously.
Almost every random dungeon group I've joined throughout beta so far, I've either friended or been friended by at least one person. It's a real shame to lose that.
Slight tangent here, that I realize is off the current topic, but they did disable receiving tells while you're "Bound by duty" which includes dungeons (possibly even LS chat?). I mean, what the fuck. I hope you can disable that.
To kinda make that on topic... I want to talk shit about the other dungeon members in tell, dammit!
This all day. I don't give two shits about making friends with randoms or not or whatever. But if a person does well on a dungeon I'd like a way to be able to do more with them. You guys seem to keep disagreeing with this being okay based on wanting efficiency in a dungeon. Being able to requeue with those that you know will perform well improves efficiency, it has nothing to do with wanting to circle jirk and waste time in the dungeon.
Well, Fievel, if I met you in a dungeon...I mean...
I'll circle jirk all I want
We're all going to Excalibur, can just circle jirk in the busy streets.
but they got rid of speed runs so we could socialize, no one will ever want to run the dungeons fast again
But without that MND<->INT swap, nukes in nuking stance would be far worse. You can argue that poor cures in nuking stance is bad, but poor nukes in nuking stance is immeasurably worse.
If you want to say that realigning CNJ nukes back to INT is a nerf, fine. But Cleric Stance's change is not a nerf.
There is no valid reason for the friend list not working across servers. You will always have friends on other servers, people you meet online and in real life who don't want to transfer to your server for example. Wouldn't it be nice to play with those?
Well the reason is that they don't want to really modernize the game.
This has been a standard feature in WoW for 2 years? now and has been in pretty much every title since.
They'd have to redo SE Accounts and all of that nonsense and they're still stinging from having to get rid of their awesome POL.
Isn't ARR's entire existence about "modernising the game"? I don't think they'd have to go that far either, it should be quite easy to change the existing friend list structure to allow it. Cross data center would be more challenging but they could get away with not doing that.
They could have yaknow, sjtu not added the feature yet also. THey have changed many little things in the game, since phase 2 besides jsut adding area's and a few classes and quests such as the pet no longer requires spam summoning per zoning. Louder chime noise for PM's, boob physics to be bouncier (very important).
