Most of them will probably just roll on a new server. There's no point to legacy servers if you only played a little bit unless all your friends are going as well.

This is something I have been wondering about. I played 1.0 quite a bit, but not as much as a lot of the legacy players. I managed to take 2 classes to 50 (cnj and lnc) and do all their job quests. I also leveled gla and arc to 30...

But I didn't really put any time into crafts. I also didn't really have a stockpile of Gil or amazing items. So is it worth it for someone like me to continue my char on a legacy server... Or would I be better off starting fresh?

Part of me thinks that while the legacy servers will have a lot more Gil in the economy from the get go, the markets and economy itself will be much more stable than the new servers for some time. So I somewhat think maybe the legacy servers would actually be better in the end? Idk this is something I've been struggling with...

As for which would be better for you personally I do not know. But don't let your 1.0 characters progress be a deciding factor, two classes at 50 that are non crafting/gathering really isn't that big of a deal, easily replaced.

I do agree with you though on the thought that legacy servers will have a more stable economy than new servers for at least a few months.

Unless I missed something, Goobbue mount is tied to character not account so even though I only have a level 30 LNC from 1.0 I'll be rolling on a Legacy server just to keep it. Anyone have any info to the contrary?

On the new servers you can expect to find mostly barren markets with a handful of people trying to level up crafts as fast as possible in order to corner markets and exploit them for as long as they can. Unless you're one of the people rushing DoL/DoH I wouldn't expect the economic conditions on the new servers to be doing you any favors.

On legacy servers you'll probably find a much more stable economy since there are already a bunch of people capable of crafting/gathering everything. People will have lots of money but that shouldn't really inflate prices much until you're looking at mid-level gear at least. Gil and resources will be plentiful as opposed to the new servers where you can expect both to be in short supply for a while. As valuable as your gil may be, if there's a lack of resources it's gonna cost you just as much if not more to get something that only a few people can make.

Also worth noting that the sheer number of high level people around will make getting help a lot easier, people like me with all 50s are gonna want to test out all our spiffy new skills and re-learn how to play all of our jobs. Likewise people with all crafts (like me) will be around to make and meld stuff for new players as well.

Not having played 1.0 much or at all doesn't inherently mean new servers are gonna be easier going.

The thrill and excitement that comes from starting fresh right out the gate and rushing to the top in a brand new MMO is not something you can experience that often.

Just that applications will open sometime during phase 3, and take effect for phase 4. IIRC, when the server merge happened you picked a server on the SE account management webpage.

Just confirming this since no one else did. Goobbue is indeed character specific.

If your only incentive to keep your old character is a damn Goobbue mount though, you've got some problems.

Well... its interesting, to say the least. I'm not sure if its a limitation of the engine or a conscious design decision to make sure that people focus while in these dungeons. Limiting people's access to douching around with others could certainly promote focus... but yeah, that's rather limiting.
