Am I supposed to blush?![]()
No but a cactuar actually talked!
His post is actually confusing as it contradicts what they posted previously (the high ferry price is listed under the known bugs list).
Didn't actually say that BRD never sings. I said sings occasionally. BRDs power was pretty much the ability for people to remember they had sung at some point.
...No it doesn't. Here's the scenario, are the mages together? Ballad, are the melee together? Paeon. Maintaining two songs? Don't you mean using two abilities is hard? And what do you do afterwards, you just shoot stuff or support. That requires more skill than positioning anyway, attacking and moving around? All of which require more than 1.0 just due to how little it stops you.
Yeah we get it Dan, you think singing songs is hard. It isn't, it doesn't require much skill to use in the first place, so making it actually need effort and thought to maintain songs requires more skill, since if you fuck up you run out of MP and can't sing.
Riskier for sure. Riskier than singing for 3 seconds and running like a coward.
BRD never had to deal with maintaining songs. Not to mention attacking in ARR is far more complex and fast paced than it ever was in 1.0. Generally you're doing more.
You're maintaining a song around yourself, considering that a constant field of effect is more than a buff that doesn't have any other requirements...then b.
Maybe you missed it, but I generally don't like BRD.
I figured that price was intentional.
- Are the mages separated? Then two separate ballads.
- Do you have a PLD that needs MP? Then add a (precisely positioned, side specific) ballad to whatever you were doing before.
- Did a DD change sides for a WS and accidentally receive the wrong song? Renew song for the melees.
- Did you want a buff that actually improved your damage? Then you need to sing paeon last (or sing it again for yourself).
- Repeat all of the above every 3 minutes.
This is as opposed to ARR BRD's task list:
- activate song
- stand kind of in the middle of everyone
- play ARC until your MP drains and then refills
It would be one thing if Ballad actually refilled your MP; then you could at least have some of the THM-style astral fire/umbral ice intelligent MP cycling going on. But BRD's MP management is binary: song on, or song off. It's brain dead.
Still harder than using one ability for everyone in your party.Maintaining two songs? Don't you mean using two abilities is hard?
So in other words, maintaining different songs with different expiring durations (that do not have timers displayed) doesn't take much skill, so that system should be replaced with... one song for everyone that has no fixed duration and can be simply turned on or off?Yeah we get it Dan, you think singing songs is hard. It isn't, it doesn't require much skill to use in the first place, so making it actually need effort and thought to maintain songs requires more skill, since if you fuck up you run out of MP and can't sing.
The idea that one song for everyone (with no timers to manage) is somehow more complex or challenging than managing different songs with different expirations on multiple people is so laughable as to be absurd. But I'm sure you'll file this away as another example of Dan being Dan, right?
I'll close with this gem of a quote:
BRD never had to deal with maintaining songs.

There was more than one "bug."
In other words, the bug that you're talking about (now) applied to both airship and ferry, and was exacerbated by the previously claimed "bug" of supposedly-too-high-ferry-prices. In the screencap you posted, the SE rep (replying to a post about bugged high ferry price, NOT bugged invisible ferry price) said that the ferry price amount was, in fact, Working As Intended. An issue where the transport cost for the Lominsan Ferry and airship cannot be confirmed if characters do not possess enough gil.

An issue where the transport cost for the Lominsan Ferry is set too high.
Which is what I said before.
Shit, that was quick! They're all done now.they giving away beta keys at http://www.gamesradar.com/keygiveawa...l-fantasy-XIV/
Why would your Paladin need Ballad anyway? To cast those gimp Cures? As it is there's no need to have different songs active because most jobs can take care of themselves without you. Ballad is something you'll want up if your WHM needs some MP back and that's it, same applies to Paeon. The only song you'll probably have on all the time is Requiem depending on what it actually does (I'm assuming it increases damage done but I haven't tested anything yet), Ballad and Paeon sound like situational songs due to their nature and the damage hit you receive.
1.0 PLD needed Ballad for rather obvious reasons.
2.0 PLD doesn't really even have that option (unless everyone else in the party is also getting it).
Hope you weren't basing your strategy on lots of Flash!
So... there's no need for songs? Sounds like a pretty good reason to skip BRD entirely, if true.As it is there's no need to have different songs active because most jobs can take care of themselves without you.
I'm going to throw a wild guess out there and say that TP management will be slightly more relevant in endgame fights than when you're obliterating lowbie trash.Ballad is something you'll want up if your WHM needs some MP back and that's it, same applies to Paeon.
I was supposed to say actively maintaining songs, but I even if I did you still wouldn't get it. Either way it doesn't matter.
I was gonna continue, but this pretty much sums it up. It's funny, but if nothing else you've proven what a pain in the ass 1.0 BRD is to play and how you don't understand BRD in 2.0. Sure, song on, song off. An upgrade I suppose to song on.
I'm worried that the stuff we complete during phase 4 is going to be sub-par to release.
For example, will they have the voice overs in phase 4? My character is being treated like a new character instead of a returning character. Will they have that fixed before phase 4?
