No convincing needed, wrong is as wrong does homie. I'm just tryin to show you the light.
I like some XIV music and lots of XI music. Scratch that. I LOVE lots of XI's music. Raogrimm's Death Theme is still tops on my list, period, and it pisses me off that I lost my Altana View so I can't hear it anymore.
I actually forgot how cool the old BC theme was until I decided to help a new player who was shouting get Utsusemi: Ni so I could experience a BCNM for old time's sake a month or two ago.
(Also, I don't remember Under Observation having been THAT easy in the past)
XI has some epic battle music, later on more so than earlier, but the unique boss themes have always been good. Even the BC music had great atmosphere and I always felt I needed to turn the music on for these events.
XIVs music on the other hand has about 3-4 tracks I like, and only a couple of battle themes that stand out. But this is early days (and possibly the last days) for XIV, so who knows where the music will go.
edit: lol, the music just got posted, didn't see that coming.
...Fucking miss Raogrimm... *mumbles*

The Zilart BCNM (Tough Battle #2) and AABCNM (Fighters of the Crystal) themes were baller.
Don't take me back to that happy place, Kuro. Those were better times, even if the JP did rule the world back then.
I've had XI music off so long that I forgot how amazing it was. When we did Odin though, I always turned it back on..
There was something magical about the Jeuno music too. Probably because it was so soothing after your first run there or after the shit storm that Qufim could be in the early days.
Odin's theme was the most impressive battle music I had come across in XI.
Alexander's was a close 2nd.
Still puttin my money in with the old school RotZ shit.
This was it for me and still is my favorite. Many other good tracks have been added over the years but none sound to me as if they have as much of that I don't know what.
Never understood why "Iron Colossus plays" when fighting Odin and "Ragnarok" plays when fighting Alexander.
CoP music > All
All this music makes me want to drop XIV and start up XI again just to play through all the missions(solo!)

In Patch 1.18, we will be increasing the max number of retainers that can be set up within each area. However, by simply increasing the number of allowable retainers, the fact remains that it could again reach the capacity limit. Therefore, as a precursor to that we will be planning some type of system of checks and balances in order to reset the retainers that have been setup.
Somebody fucking find me a working altana view. Riches to the man, woman or child that finds it~!
I unexpectedly got my hands on XI's soundtrack before I knew anything about the game, when a friend brought it from a trip to Japan. I immediately fell in love with some of the pieces in there: Ronfaure, Gustaberg and the opening were my favorites and still are to this day. Some might have a different pick, but XI's soundtrack is quite varied and rich for the most part, contributing a great deal in giving personality to each aspect of XI's world. Some people say that music doesn't sell games, it probably doesn't for most, but it did for me. I ended up researching and importing the game, which I played for over 5 years.
I can't say anything of the sort from XIV's music. I was excited when I saw the rip made available, only to feel really disappointed shortly after. There wasn't a single track I could say I really enjoyed. Everything sounded quite dull, with no ambient music really capable of illustrating the spirit of an area or cut-scene... except perhaps Coerthas, which is so short that gets repetitive within the first few minutes. I didn't keep XIV's music, and I'm quite a collector of video game music.

Riches pls.
Edit: Also Shinryu's theme, especially the last ~minute, awesome.
Can't believe no one mentioned Memoro de la Stono/Distant Worlds yet <_<
Battles are fine and all but there's a reason Uematsu named his FF music tour after this track.
Easily the highlight of FFXI's soundtrack.
