WoW has cross server guesting now too.
Hopefully Yoshi-P doesn't blow his FF nostalgia wad all over level 50 content. Leave some nostalgia for higher levels, lol. I would have thought Demon Wall would be for something lvl 60+.
When they raise the level cap to allow for level 60 content, I doubt anyone would have a hard time finding FF related content to add..
I wish they used Sephiroth as the name of a Lv.7 FATE NM. Preferrably a Marmot. Fanboy troll to the maxxxxxxxxxx~
I hope the debuff won't be too harsh. I shouldn't be punished because a couple of dickbags can't comprehend party play. From Dds soloing their own mobs, to horribad healers and useless tanks, no one should be punished for deserting a shitty party. The debuff was mentioned by Yoshi so it's a matter of time before that happens. I likely won't use df for endgame content anyhow, but my vadge would be extra sandy if it was implemented as an hour debuff and getting in the way of my lvling.
Some people take advantage of it though. If they don't get the people they want to play with, they drop until they get it. For that reason alone, I welcome the debuff.
In TERA, they had it to where you don't get it if you get kicked, but you do get it if you drop the party. I'm sure they can think of something clever while making use of it in FFXIV.
To answer a previous question, no, instances are not locked on a once-a-day timer. You may try as many times as you like. There might be a 5 min timer but thats about it.
Like Raldo, I still don't get your point with locking the instance to once a day but I have an inkling you're thinking of the primal fights in the same vein to Shandra Manaya. Using Duty Finder, you're hard limited to 90 minutes with that same group to attempt the fight as many times as you can fit within that time limit. After that point, the game just calls it a night for your group. Without DF, you have an infinite amount of attempts with the same group (beyond the 90 min time limit).
People seem to forget that when each of the "7-8 minute" primal fights came out, wiping for hours was the norm with the same group (great players and bads alike). Some groups were able to beat them on release day but a vast majority took a couple days. Even then, experienced groups would have "moments" where they'd wipe 1-2 times before beating the Primal once they had it on farm.
I think the real question is, how will the FFXIV community use DF for endgame instances. Stanislaw already mentioned that JP will most likely train within the server for content but use DF for quick content clears. That's sorta how it was expected in Tera as well, people wanted only experienced folk to queue up (newbies were kicked almost immediately) so they can get a party and complete the dungeons quick & easy.
Speaking of lockouts. Did primals like Ifrit Extreme have lockouts? Or can you farm the shit out of them?
Ifrit Extreme was only for the relic quest. Either way, all of the 1.0 endgame instances had a 15min lockout if you won and a 5min lockout if you lost, so yes, you could farm them endlessly.
We have no idea whether ARR's endgame instances will have lockouts or not. SE hasn't seen fit to tell us much about endgame for some reason.
Oh I thought extreme was like hard mode in WoW. My bad.
Everything was based around this. I was just saying that making the 90 minute timer so you can keep trying with one group would be useless, if there was no lock-out. Just make it so you can walk in and out of the dungeon whenever you want, since it's unlimited anyway.
Trust me, I'm all for re-entering and trying all day, but a timer is hardly needed, especially for the reason mentioned above.
I get ya. I honestly don't even know why SE still bothers with the time limit on dungeons.
Cant have instances up for no reason, they can only maintain a finite number of instances at once. Need a timer to make sure they get shut down if nothing comes about it.
That's not really an issue in nearly every other MMO and all of their dungeons lack a timer. If having dungeons with no timer ends up causing instance congestion, then SE isn't doing it right.
I'd say nearly every MMO experiences congestion during the early rush. Of course afterwards the timers can be removed, as they've said they will do.
