That was different, because it actually took time to get to that point. lol
I have a good feeling this supposed big dick status, and their established economy thing isn't going to last very long at all. I'm guessing with gear patches, new dungeons, new materials, and how easy it is to hit 50, everything should be caught up within a couple of months soon. I don't see a lot of BG people boasting about it though, so it's cool. Was quite different in the beta with duty finder though.
I expect servers to drop the Legacy title within the first merger. Uh oh; SAID IT!
Sorry I didn't articulate myself well on this. All games in development not necessarily FFXIV.
We had prior knowledge that 14 was already bad on release. People bought in on preorders and intended to play with the expectation that the game would be better later down the line, I can actually name a few of my friends whose reasoning was this. However the game should have not even hit the shelves or bought into at all. The money would have spoken and they would have gone back to the drawing board long before the game started then flopped. We would have gotten ARR anyways and 1.0 may have never existed in the first place. Even without 1.0, it is very likely we would have seen ARR is some form or another. It's a shame that developers had to waste time on 1.0 in general because it's 'what the people are saying with their money'.
Did the last few pages really just happen?
I'm actually disappointed at the internet.
Only if you believed that there would be functionally no difference between open beta and retail.
So you're saying that no one should have bought 1.0 based solely on the beta, which somehow would have resulted in SE deciding to continue forward with many of the assets from the failed game to make a new, better version? However the game should have not even hit the shelves or bought into at all. The money would have spoken and they would have gone back to the drawing board long before the game started then flopped. We would have gotten ARR anyways and 1.0 may have never existed in the first place.
This is probably the worst possible forum (full of Legacy players) for the worst possible game (ARR) to propose this theory. Legacy players (and 1.0 buyers as a whole) are the entire reason ARR exists.
If "some form or another" = Final Fantasy XVII, sure.Even without 1.0, it is very likely we would have seen ARR is some form or another.
You guys realize most folks here were very low-key about their legacy status until others started coming in and whining about it. And then it became fun just to fuck with 'em.
That depends on what you mean by caught up.
If you mean that HQ LV50 synths simply exist (at ridiculous prices that only the 1% can afford), sure, they'll catch up pretty fast on that. But the legacy servers have an economic lead of several trillion (or maybe several billion after redenomination) gil in circulation. Not only that, but while non-legacy newbs are busy destroying gil by buying gear from NPCs, legacy newbs will be buying gear from other players, so the lead is likely to increase in the early months.
Gil means absolutely nothing on legacy vs new servers. Prices will just match the current economies on each server. However, the supply of materials and materia which already exists on legacy servers is what will give the biggest lead.
Simple fucking economics.
Economy A has a billion Gil. Economy B has 100,000 Gil. Prices are not going to be the same between the two economies. Prices will reflect the current money present in the economy. Just because item A costs 200k in economy A it could cost 2,000 in economy B.
