huh. We've seen some requests like this for a "talk" emote that would make your character's mouth move. In Beta phase 4, we will be making it possible to set it so you character moves their lips when chatting in /say, /LS, or other chat channels!
Also, we feel it will be possible to really bring out more emotion by having your lips move while using certain expression emotes.
I don't know about /LS chat, but /say or /party chat is fine by me. /LS chat lip movement would just be weird, standing around talking to seemingly no one, running your mouth off.
Hope it can be toggled, how the fuck am I supposed to pretend to be afk when motherfuckers are trying to talk to me.
Kinda like in RL when using a really small in ear wireless headset? lol
Linkpearls are also something you technically equip right? I think one of main CS has npcs talking into each of their pearls during the Major past event battle.
It's not taking away from the immersion factor as its technically part of the game world, but yea it still will look wierd lol
*edit*
beaten. D:
There's no way to sync mouth movements up with what you're saying, so that seems like a waste of resources. It's always going to look stupid/akward. Open mouth, close mouth, open mouth, close mouth; that's not going to look like any talking anyway unless you're saying BA BA BA BA BA BA BA.
I'm never turning that shit on (please allow people to toggle stupid features like this).

How's it different then cut-scenese?
The mouth moving thing reminded me of something that's bothered me about the camera.
Does anyone else remember the "field of view" camera setting that was in 1.0? It's not there now and the camera behaves similar to the way it did in 1.0 when FoV was set at the most distant, I really dislike it that way (I usually set it ~2/3s of the way inward). The perspective that the camera gives is very....ugly I guess, it's hard to describe. Adjusting the FoV setting in 1.0 could give you a much more "cinematic" camera angle is the best way I can put it, objects nearby looked nearby and things in the distance looked far away.
The mouth moving thing brought this to mind because the way the camera is in 2.0 it's very hard to see things close up or get a decent perspective, I find.
(also I think the mouth moving thing is stupid and a waste of time)
Gotta please the RPers.
I'm not suggesting you agree with Niiro's logic, but if you won't need Bahamut weapons to upgrade your relics then why bother getting Bahamut weapons? This is making the assumption an upgraded relic (after a cap increase) is better than a Bahamut tier 1 weapon which isn't a bad assumption.
If it's a tiered system then what else is going to come before an upgraded relic?
It does seem a bit retarded to be going relic > Crystal Tower tier 1 > Bahamut tier 1 > relic upgrade > Crystal Tower tier 2 > Bahamut tier 2 however but where would you put it, or where would Niiro put it?
All we know is that:
Relics are upgradable.
Crystal Tower and Bahamut Labyrinth will be expanded upon over a year and a half or so (probably until first expansion)
More primals will probably slot in between them too as we'll almost certainly see a level cap increase before then.
The developer quote that started this discussion specifically mentioned /ls chat.
Someone in the OF actually had an okay idea for LS chat though:
it would be cool if when you talk in linkshell chat you put your hand up to your ear. I've seen that in the cut scenes like you are using the Link shell device.
Only a matter of time before they implement the system of typing certain words to cause your character to automatically do an emote.
Because SE have said end-game will have a gear hierarchy? If relic is always going to be the best weapon that kinda kills this. Plus I am pretty sure SE said somewhere that weapons within the Bahamut Labyrinth will be better than relics. Relics are considerably easier to obtain in this game than XI, they aren't going to remain the best weapon for years.
