The two bolded sentences can't go hand-in-hand. If you acknowledge Cleric's Stance as "not being needed by THM" then you have to do the same for ACN. Both are magic DD classes based on INT.
Either way, SCH is "breaking" a lot of rules (or rather, creating new ones). I mean, look at gear - the gear distribution is sort of "weird" too: CNJ WHM SCH are grouped together in a lot of pieces, and SCH can't use a lot of ACN SMN gear. Seeing so many SCH-only books (that ACN cannot use) is also somewhat unexpected.
I see Cleric's Stance as being a skill "for healers". I imagine it won't be the last skill where they use a specific rule like this.
The skill and gear changes certainly open a lot of options for second jobs, I guess.
