The OF of EVERY game are fucking horrible. It's the first place that casuals are likely to look/find to bitch about a game that they play, and the quality standards for posts are low out of necessity of accommodating the company's retarded customers. Third-party forums have no such restrictions. They can call you a fucking moron and ban your ass without having to worry about a potential PR crisis. The worst that happens for a Third-party site banning idiots is that they get labeled as "elitist assholes", which I think is actually a GOOD thing, as that's what I tend to look for when I'm researching a new game.

As I recall, it didn't really apply the same way. For 1.0, there was no digital distribution, so you couldn't install before you had your disc in hand. My local Gamestop did not have a midnight release for it, so I picked it up the morning of 2010/09/22 (non-CE release day was 09/30) and installed/logged on then. IIRC, other people who had managed to snag their copy earlier had been logging on overnight.
