"error C00009A" win7 SP1.

here we go again, jeeeeeeez.
as the last time, i'm sorry in advance for my bad english. :3

i did update my fresh win7 installation with all the updates, and besides the fact that it seems that the booting and the login process did became so much slower, i might have messed up something: i installed all the additional languages that windows update found (34 languages for about 3 gb). why you ask? well because i'm a maniac and i hate having the "hey there are X available updates ready to mess with your desktop!" message all the time.

now for the fun part.
on last thing that i update was service pack 1 for win7. the files downloaded correctly, but when the pc rebooted to install them, it goes to the logo screen, start applying the updates and suddenly it stops, with this message: "error C000009A applying update 118561 of 33XXXX".

now everytime i reboot with normal booting function it goes to this screen all the time, and the repair tool doesnt find anything wrong, also i an't choose a previous "safe point" because they are magically gone (or probably because its a brand new install, and since it has only 2 weeks it hadn't create any point yet, dunno).
also, if i try to boot in safe mode it stops at: "classpnp.sys", so that is a no go.

first of all, wtf is wrong with my desktop? i mean, what does errors mean? i'd like to know a bit, out of curiosity.
does this mean another format is needed? i'm ok with it since i installed only a few games and nothing else, so it's ok to format (again) but i really have to save some documents before it.. how can i do it?

also, is win7 the best solution? could winXP be a better choice? i'm speaking of the 64b version of those (as i have 6gb ram).

I think it was reported that installing service pack with language packs caused it to crash or something.

I have no idea what the fix might be, Microsoft advices restoring the OS installation which you obviously can't do so looks like reinstalling Windows 7 is the way to go for you.

By the way, select all the updates and right click -> Hide this update

Something I'm seeing for a lot of the problems posted is, if all else fails, try an upgrade installation on an existing install to retain your installed programs and files, while essentially reinstalling the OS. That'd be the last step I've seen mentioned before straight up re-installing 7.

Also I wouldn't consider downgrading to XP unless you had a specific reason to, 7's pretty great for the most part.
