    Car Transporting

Hey all, I moved from TX to FL and still have my car over in Houston so I'm trying to find a company to bring it down here. My big issue is that it's tough to find a company I can trust, especially if my search is online. There's way too much of a possibility that the reviews are fake, etc.

So I figured the next best thing is to go off of real experience. I personally don't know anyone who has transported a car irl besides my dad, and he doesn't remember who he went with (his memory isn't even good enough to remember the names of his five children.)

This moves me to the point of this thread: Anyone have any real experience with car transporting? I don't want to get scammed or anything, so any help via personal experiences would be greatly appreciated.

I just moved to Texas from New York and I used shipyourcarnow.com to bring my car here. They had good service (took a little to find a trucker to bring it because of the storms so not their fault) and luckily for you their main HQ is in Florida so they'd probably be very quick to find you someone to bring your car. It cost me ~650 dollars. I'd recommend them.

I'm part of an Automotive forum and one of the sponsors of that website is JP logistics. They everyday transport millions of dollars worth of cars and are a trusted member of the community. http://www.jplogistics.net/ is their website and you can get a quote online using their resources page. Should you decide to call, mention that you were recommended by someone from Luxury4play. That might or might not get you a discount, I don't know if they are still talking those or rather giving discounts.

We transported our BMW on our own when we moved down here, but honestly the cost and hassle of flying back there just to hop in that car and drive all the way back here is a bit much.

P.S. Thanks to both replies thus far. ^^

60-200 dollar flight + gas = probably won't go over the prices you will be quoted.

Hope you find what you need though

Well tbh the cost would be about in factoring the the flight, the gas, lodging, and the fact that I'd be missing work and subtracting 200+ right there. So in reality I don't really save that much if I drive but I do save myself a long-ass, boring-ass drive if I transport.

Thanks for the tips anyways, I do appreciate your intentions on giving me the best advice. =)

Weekends? You wouldn't really have to lodge anywhere though seeing how if you live in Miami the drive is 14 hours.

But you seem intent of not doing this yourself, I am just bored and feel like pointing out shit.

I work weekends. The drive takes about 15 hours and even I was driving I definitely would not drive that straight. I'd pass out behind the wheel and kill myself in the process, lol.

Plus I wouldn't trust some asshole with my car. Used to work at an auto-dealership, and some of those cars get fucked on those transports.

To bad you don't have any relatives that want to visit or you could have them drive it to you and fly home.

But yeah living in houston myself i wouldn't trust anyone but a full blood relative to drive my car. Friend just got his engine blown letting a "buddy" take it to the store.

What about weekdays, then? And a cheap truck stop motel if you're on a tight budget, or a hotel with some amenities if you want to relax, swim in a pool, drink at the lobby bar, etc.

Unless it's a Bugatti Veyron. It really doesn't mean anything. Especially since its one trip, not multiple. He'll allocate the miles he made over the years slowly in daily travel anyways.

I work for a flat bed, step deck trucking company and we move personal vehicles all the time. You don't need a special car transport as long as you can find somewhere to load it onto the trailer (some trucks carry ramps, but not a lot). Since it's less than a full load, it'd probably be paired with other freight headed out that way, which means you can usually get a pretty good rate. Quite a few loads move from Houston to all over Florida, so I don't think it would be too hard to find a truck for it quickly. If you'd just like to get a ball park figure, I could put you in touch with my friend that handles dispatch, just send me a PM. We tend to be kind of on the spendier side, because, I dunno, all the guys I work with are assholes, but it's a place to start.
