The trend mentioned in the OP is pretty much a natural movement born out of globalization. Of course more companies are moving more of their operations to more tax friendly places. It's not because we are all of a sudden more greedy, it is because it is now possible to do whereas in the 1950's it wasn't. If we want corporations to maintain their headquarters here then we need to create the best environment for them to persuade them to do so. How do you do that while still holding them as accountable as small business owners when it comes time to paying the piper? I don't know. But you can't just tax tax tax and expect people to take it when they have the option of not paying. I guarantee you that if private citizens had the option of using a P.O. Box in Switzerland to avoid paying personal income tax, 99% of people would do it if it was legal.
