Words cannot express the joy I feel for the news that Danys Baez was DFA'd today.

Also I don't think the Phillies are serious players for Beltran (though I'd love to have him) because Rube loves players he can control at least a year. I'm betting the Mets and Phillies are using each other as leverage to get better deals, in the Phillies case to drive the price down for Pence and the Mets to get a better package from the Braves or Giants.

I doubt the Phillies go after Beltran. Honestly.. he's a 2-3 month rental at best since he'll want more money next year or via arbitration. I personally think the Mets are just cycling hype for him.

Also.. I wish we could DFA Proctor. Tell your GM to call the Braves GM, and tell them how DFAing works.

Yeeeah. ATL has a ton of pitching depth and what not, but I'd rather not trade off someone who could be good in the future for a 2-3 month rental. Learned that lesson with the Tex deal.

I'm not afan of rentals myself, but the Giants need help. But they also need more help then what Beltran can offer. We seem to have a band-aid fix for our 2nd base issue, but crawford is not ready for hitting in the major leagues, so we need a SS, a lead off hitter who can hit consistently, and a catcher.

They have to convince a team that they need beltran to make a run, in other words a desperate team. None of the contenders are that desperate to give up the kind of prospect the mets want. So we'll see what happens.

I only want to see Beltran on the Phillies if they don't give up much and they sit Ibanez. I love Raul, but he's not having a banner year. The Phillies are going to make the playoffs. It's all about getting the right players into the lineup after that who are hot enough to carry you.

Well everyone but the mets know that. I think at one point the Mets told the Giants they wanted Wheeler + another and Sabean promptly laughed and said no thanks. I could see the Phillies or the Giants doing a take it or leave it offer if the Braves don't go retarded though.

Braves are 5 games up on the wild card and we basically just got Prado back, still without Chipper, Moylan's still recovering (who'd take the place of Proctor's ass I'd imagine), and so on. I'm comfortable with the wild card, and we're not in a 'win now' mode like last year.
