12:08pm: The Cardinals will send Rasmus, Trever Miller, Brian Tallet, and P.J. Walters to the Blue Jays for Jackson, Rzepczynski, Dotel, and Corey Patterson, tweets ESPN's Buster Olney. Olney adds that Miller is then expected to be traded to the White Sox.

12:45pm: Olney tweets that Giants pitching prospect Zack Wheeler is expected to be the centerpiece in the trade. Brown and Jonathan Sanchez are not in the deal, tweets Joel Sherman of the New York Post.

12:37pm: The Mets will likely receive two other players in addition to Brown, tweets Newsday's Ken Davidoff. He says the trade could be announced later today or early tomorrow.

I'm sure the giants will sign him for a few years pretty quickly. I don't think they would be giving up wheeler if he was going to turn around and be a free-agent so quickly.

There have been some rumors that it's going to be Zach Wheeler, Francisco Peguero, and Erik Surkamp for Carlos Beltran and Ronny Paulino.

Difference on this one is a run was actually scored by Cleveland. I also remember, was about 12+ years ago, someone on the yankee's threw a no hitter and lost. Yankee's had something like 4 errors in the game that lead to runs.

I'll tell you the Mets won't trade Paulino at this time so I'd find that report sketchy at best. The Mets have no catching depth and Thole clearly isn't a starting catcher. Paulino mashes lefty pitching and is under control for 2 more years. He's been good and I don't expect them to part with him even for Wheeler. I could be wrong but Alderson has mentioned catching as a weakness and I find it hard to believe they would deplete that position further at this point.

The Phillies offered a really nice package to the Astros for Pence. Cosart, Singleton, and a third prospect and they shot it down. I'm kind of glad they did.

my 2 cents on the Braves-Pirates call:

Obviously he was out. However, I think all of this "OMG WORST CALL EVAR" stuff is silly. Yes, he was blocked waaay in front of the plate. The ump called him out because he saw the swipe tag(which was a bad tag, even though it did brush him), and thought he whiffed on it.

Yes, it was a bad call, and umps usually don't make that call regardless because the throw beat him by so much. But all of this hoopla is dumb and the Pirates need to stop dwelling on it before it ruins their season.

As much as I hate buster Olney, I think he made a good point in one of those espn video blogs. It's silly that the mlb doesn't add another umpire to every crew to watch the games from the booth. That way he can see the calls on video as it's made and determine whether or not it's a good or blown call. I think that would quell a lot of the banter for expanded replay and take a lot of the guess work out of calls.
