...And that's it
welcome to our season
For what it's worth, the Phillies have the worst batter in the majors not named Adam Dunn this year
Carl Crawford has a robust 0.2 WAR... surprised it's that low, even despite his horrendous OBP, poor SLG and pedestrian BA - still has a lot more SB (17) than most guys and a hand full of HR (10) and triples (5)... between him and Lackey - it has to be the worst production out of that much money ever...
I'm a bit shocked Saltalamacchia is only 1.2 also... he doesn't have eye-popping stats, but for a catcher he's been pretty good offensively and defensively, aside from a putrid first few weeks. Guessing that's diminished greatly by his split playing time with Varitek.
I just did 40 minimum PA, so I didn't include people like Zito (14, -0.1). Cliff Lee has something like 0.7 last I checked so there's no reason pitchers wouldn't be just as accountable for hitting. (edit: he does have 0.7 -- 64 plate appearances.)
And Posey had 1.6 WAR in 185 PA, lol
Greinke vs. Greinke.
0.9 WAR on Baseball Reference, 3.2 WAR on Fangraphs.
Derek Lowe home run, Aki not allowed to bitch about him for a week
Also as someone who picked him up in fantasy
Desmond Jennings is a fucking beastIn 134 at-bats since they brought him up on July 23, he’s gone .351/.439/.634 with 8 homers, 14 steals and a WAR of WTF. Sometime over the next week, Jennings could pass Carl Crawford in steals, homers and walks while also having a higher slugging percentage than Crawford’s OPS
