As a Mets fan I have very little vested interest in who won tonight, but something that not many people are talking about (that I figured would be huge news) is the home field issue.

Rangers had more wins than the Cards but yet because of Selig's ridiculous 'all star winner gets home field' rule, the Cards hosted games 6-7. Now normally this would just be a small advantage, but with game 6 being rained out it allowed Carpenter to come back and pitch game 7 whereas, at best, he would have come out of the pen if not for that extra day's rest. If games 6-7 would have been played in Arlington (where it should have been) then the Cardinals trot someone else out there. Carpenter didn't look dominant tonight but I have to imagine the Rangers would have scored more than 2 runs off someone like Westbrook.

I really hope this gets some airtime this week. Not because I feel the Rangers were cheated (if you walk 41 batters you don't deserve a ring), but because the all star game deciding home field advantage is flat out dumb.

This is sorta true but homefield even if viable should not make a team better or win more... Just ask the braves when they played the yankees and won 2 in NY and went home and sucked it up =\

Rivera losing it for the Yankees against the Dbacks a decade ago was the last epic game outside of game 6, that's how dull baseball is...

Maybe if they get rid of Bud Selig they can revive the game somewhat, was I the only one who saw him reading his congratulatory speech off of a cue card? Really Bud you can't even remember basic information about the team who just won the world series and you're the commissioner of baseball? No wonder why this sport is tanking and only a handful of East Coast teams have a strong legion of fans who really care. The fact more people in American would rather watch Dancing With The Stars instead of these games really says it all.

It's not really fair to base home field advantage off of wins either because the teams play in separate leagues and separate divisions and play different teams. Really, in baseball, there is no fair way to award home-field advantage in the World Series.

Home field advantage wouldn't have been an issue if the Rangers could have held a lead in game 6 or 7.

With interleague play that is less of an issue. The Division and League Championship series' are based on total wins, to have the world series be determined by an exhibition is just dumb. Like I said, usually it's only a small advantage, but in situations like this year where it meant the difference of facing Carpenter or facing a number 4 or 5 caliber starting pitcher due to rain in St. Louis the advantage is magnified.

Even giving homefield advantage to the league that has the better interleague record would be better than the current system.

Perhaps they can do something different come 2013, That's when they move the Astros to the AL and use the balanced schedule with interleague all year and 2 wild cards.

Rangers got robbed! They should have the world series in a neutral city with a dome! LOL

It was an entertaining World Series, despite all the home field advantage shit. Congrats to St. Louis and their fans.

The HFA only mattered because of the rain delay it caused, mostly. Getting to start the best pitcher this postseason 3 times in a series ended up being huge. I wish the Rangers had a clone of Colby Lewis.

Still one of the best WS in recent memory.

Having carpenter 3 times helped, but it was more about the rangers choking. Rangers deserved to lose with all the mental mistakes. Not having their 3 best players at 100% hurt too.

Cardinals nutted up more and won. Just like how the mavericks did to the heat.

if that what gets you through the nights more power to you.

I'd like to say thank you though I no longer feel terrible about the bartman game with the epic choke job the rangers did.

Don't worry Rhinox, you'll get another chance to feel terrible living in Chicago with those teams. Or maybe you won't, none of your teams look capable of getting to a championship series/game anyways.
