Rangers had more wins than the Cards but yet because of Selig's ridiculous 'all star winner gets home field' rule, the Cards hosted games 6-7. Now normally this would just be a small advantage, but with game 6 being rained out it allowed Carpenter to come back and pitch game 7 whereas, at best, he would have come out of the pen if not for that extra day's rest. If games 6-7 would have been played in Arlington (where it should have been) then the Cardinals trot someone else out there. Carpenter didn't look dominant tonight but I have to imagine the Rangers would have scored more than 2 runs off someone like Westbrook.
I really hope this gets some airtime this week. Not because I feel the Rangers were cheated (if you walk 41 batters you don't deserve a ring), but because the all star game deciding home field advantage is flat out dumb.
