Morgan and Greinke back today/tonight, sounds good man.
Apparently the Giants are kicking the tires around Jose Reyes. This shit has been talked about all year and literally makes no sense for the Mets to even consider. Everyone is dead set on Reyes asking for a 7 year deal identical to the one Crawford signed. Yet Reyes has talked about wanting to stay in NY and could at this point easily be persuaded to take a hometown discount in terms of years if you pay the man what he's worth for say 4 years. Meanwhile the Giants would apparently need to build a package around Jonathan Sanchez or the prospect Wheeler, while we have no one to fill SS offensively.
This Wilpon shit is ridiculous, how can you even consider going into a rebuilding mode when you have a team like phils in the division expanding pay roll to make room for worthy players, and the Yankees across town. For fuck sake sell the team.
/rant off.
Besides Reyes, who do the mets have to build around? The starting pitching is horrible, the relief pitching is horrible, Beltran is being held together mcgeyver style with bubblegum and duct tape in the hopes of unloading him by the trade deadline. There's just way too many holes to try to fill through free agency, even if they convince Reyes to take 4-5 years at 15m a year to be worth it.
That's the point really. They're just gonna blow up the team now, to save the Wilpon's money so they can settle or pay of enough debt to keep the team. Meanwhile they'll have sent the team into a rebuilding that is going to require investments to be made by paying top draft picks and the signing of FA who are going to demand substantial money to match other teams in the division. At the same time they'll have alienated fans who tolerate the rest of the team to support their favorite players and be bleeding money because you're in a division that is increasing payroll and building solid long term teams. You can't have a NY spending 60m on payroll and expect fans to come to the park or watch the games on TV, then trade away your home grown talent the fans love so much and run a successful franchise.
stop giving me reasons to make fun of the mets
i mean
keep giving me reasons to make fun of the mets
this red sox game WON'T FUCKING END
God the comments on espn about the possibility of reyes going to the giants is hillarious. So many idiot fans saying zito & whiteside (while eating the zito contract) is good for both teams.
Well I do agree on that. NY fans are fickle. But the mets are screwed either way. They either give Reyes a lt contract and pray to god they get lucky in cheap FA and that reyes doesn't get injured again, or trade Reyes and piss off the fans. It's really a lose lose for them.
MOTHERFUCKING SHIT
It's cool for me. Nothing like 3:00 in the afternoon baseball on a midweek holiday.
Hudson throws an absolute gem, McLouth reaches base 8 times out of 8 PAs, Uggles gets over the Mendoza line with 3 hits
Braves gettin TOASTY
