So unofficial reports are saying posey has a busted ankle & torn knee ligaments. This now makes 5 people on the DL in my money league and 6 in the BG league at last count.

Is this where I can be a Phillies-esque fan and bitch about how awful the god damn strike zone was for Halladay's pitches?
sure
IT WAS AWFUL
If that's the case, we are going to have to make some trades. I know he came up in either high school or college as a shortstop so that's a possibility, but he's so damn slow I don't think he can do it. We have Huff for another year at first base or left field. We have Belt whose being called up whose a first baseman with some experience in the OF. I think we put Ford on the DL, but that still leaves an outfield of Burrell, Rowand, Ross, Torres, Schierholtz. We are probably going to have to figure out how to move Rowand, which is going to require us to eat a bunch of his remaining contract. Hell, Zito is ready to come back and we are keeping him on the DL cause Voggelsong is blowing him out of the water as far as pitching is concerned.
Just heard the guys on WFAN NY suggesting that the giants would/should consider looking into Beltran because his swing and style of play fits the club. He could more than handle that RF in SF too so if he keeps it up and the Mets drop out of contention soon I could see him going to SF. Also heard that buster olney suggested today or last night that it should be illegal for catchers to block the plate. Ok Olney, why don't you go ahead and have them wear skirts instead. It's the nature of catching.
We already have a crowded outfield, and RF in AT&T park is probably the most difficult RF in all of baseball. We would more likely pick up Reyes from the Mets than Beltran. I swear NY fans are effin retarded sometimes. I think they were the same fans who said Zito & Whiteside + Money for Reyes was a good trade.
Posey's agent is all mad and wants a rule change. Good luck with that.
Sabean doesn't want to trade their pitching depth, unless they do they're not getting reyes. That's the impression right now. The giants don't have a powerbat and that's why beltran fits in that sense more than reyes. Because they'd part with beltran for a low level prospect in exchange for salary relief, which is why they would trade him. Reyes isn't a run producer which is what they need more than anything else.
Well of course he's mad, this affects his bottom line. But honestly if there was no rule change after the grisly injury Robin Ventura suffered in the 90's when sliding into a blocked plate, this won't either. I caught off and on for a year in little league and got knocked over once, it comes with the territory. Your taught that if the plate is blocked, lower your shoulder and push into the chest to try to pop the ball loose. It's not like he tried to take his head off or something.
Still doesn't take away from the fact we have 6 outfielders, all of which are better defensively than Beltran. Not about to take a bit of an uptick in offense to have the Jose Guillen show part deux at AT&T park. And I know were not getting Reyes, just saying it makes much more sense than adding a 7th outfielder to the mix.
I just don't see any reasonable way to enforce a rule at home that will prevent that kind of thing. The same goes for hard slides into second base to attempt to break up double plays.
I thought the play at the plate was pretty dirty. He launched himself specifically at Posey with 0 thought of tagging the plate. NFL made launching yourself illegal, mlb should too.
Posey's out for the year now. Giants need someone that can play catcher BAD because eli whiteside is not going to cut it. Now's the time to make a trade for a bat too.
