Probably them or the Phillies. Brewers looking good too. Funny how Sox fans were like "OH GOD WE ARE TERRIBLE" and now.. yeah. A shame bitches were quick to bitch about being bad in a 162 game season.

Luckily, the slow start, as concerning as it was to me, happened at the beginning of the season. For me, the only thing a 2-10 record meant was that there was 150 games left to play, IE more than enough time to make up for a poor start.

We definitely have the ceiling of a WS team with our pitching, but we have a lot to figure out offensively before I feel comfortable predicting it.

actually, I feel comfortable with saying this now.

    giants/phillies/braves/brewers

    red sox/yankees/tigers/rangers

nothing ground breaking in those, but they are honestly the best teams. Wouldn't be surprised to see the giants fall off the earth this year with this injury bullshit though...

Living in the Atlanta area, it's a shame that not a lot of the "Locals" are into their team. The Braves definitely have a great pitching staff, just need to get an impact bat at the deadline and hope Uggla / Heyward can shoulder the offensive load.

So it's extremely likely that Freddy Sanchez's season is over now. We were already one of the weakest offensive teams who had a shot, but now we're going to have either Manny Burriss or Bill Hall as our everyday second baseman. Our pitching staff is going to have to throw a shutout every single day now.

Trade for Reyes will be the only thing that might be able to save the season.

There will be a lot of teams in on Reyes, he'll be the biggest name traded this deadline.

Anyone trading for Reyes right now is gonna have to throw in the farm. Because Fans have finally started to let the Wilpons know how they feel about the star players on the team, particularly wright and reyes. Last few home games last before their recent road trip fans went out to the shea bridge in center field and setup a protest with signs for keep reyes. So besides his mvp season he's having so far, the asking price will be sky high.

It's still a 3 month rental for a guy who's going to want a Carl Crawford contract. They may get a good prospect out of trading him but for a rental you simply don't get crazy 4-for-1 packages.

The interesting thing is that the Mets are actually playing well and while they won't catch the Phillies any time soon, they're right there with the Wild Card teams. If the trading deadline rolls around and they're still hanging around will the FO decide to just stick it out or is the Mets financial situation so dire that they might look to dump Beltran/Reyes/K-Rod to save the $10m+ or so?

I don't know that they'll add payroll by trading FOR a guy because the prospects on the farm are serviceable but not anything spectacular. Mejia had TJ surgery. If they'll in contention by the deadline I think they'll hold onto Beltran and Reyes and either trade Krod to avoid the vesting option or eat it. The reason I say that is because Terry Collins has come out and said he's gonna manage to win and that includes using Krod. So as long as he's there he's gonna be used, and hes on pace to finish 64 games and the option vests at only 55. Could they trade Krod and get another solid reliever and use Izzy to close? It's possible, and if they're still in contention that's the only player I could see them parting with. But we'll see I guess.

Edit: The one trade I've been hearing about making is trading Bay for Dunn considering the money left on their contracts and how each player has done a miserable for their new team and each keep getting mentioned as change of scenery players.

lol at the thought of Adam Dunn playing the outfield in Citi Field... he might single handedly be responsible for 5 or so in the parkers before the season ends
