Unbelievably, the last time the Mets lost on a walk-off balk, it was when Roger McDowell committed it on May 28, 1989 in the 12th inning at Dodger Stadium, scoring Dave Anderson and advancing Willie Randolph to third base. McDowell is now the Braves' pitching coach.

McLouth was playing well.. talking about how he played with the Pirates well, so I'd trust him over Schafer. Yeah, it's a good thing to see that he's not full of himself like he was his last trip up to the majors. I think there was an interview where he was asked about his 3 run homer against the Astros when they lost 8-3, and he said he didn't care about that since they lost. So that's a positive. Still.. I think he needs to walk more and maybe work on that average more before I'd give him the nod over McLouth.

The bench would be stacked though if he stayed up. Once Prado gets back, if it's Prado/Heyward in LF/RF and McLouth/Schafer in CF.. it's a nice lineup, but it also hinges on Chipper being healthy, and Uggla remembering he was paid to hit. Then again, if Chipper gets hurt and is out for a while.. they could shift Prado down at 3rd and put McLouth in LF, letting Schafer have CF. I dunno. They have a lot of leeway in what they could do. Personally? If Schafer can get his OBP up (McLouth was actually doing decent for him) I'd stick with him, but if not, go with the more veteran guy.

Last three games.. well four, counting the last Astros game, the pitching staff has been faulty. Hudson got hit around, Jurrjens allowed 3 runs (I think that's 7 in two starts against NYM), Minor just doesn't have it compared to last year (they really miss Beachy honestly), and Lowe... well, he's Lowe. Fuck that guy. I'm curious to see how Delgado looks in his start coming up. I've heard tons of good shit about him.

Either way, the offense needs to heat up and Hudson needs to find his shit again.

I've watched Schafer a bunch of times and I personally feel like Pedroia and Eckstein are good comps when up to the plate. He reminds me of a scrapper (might have something to do with how he could probably bat in a little league game and no one would be the wiser).

I didn't like Schafer when he first came up. After that bomb he hit, I felt like he was going to try and swing for the fences too much instead of punching it the other way and just doing what he can to get on base. That and it's about fucking time we had someone on our team to.. I dunno, steal some bases, Lol.

I don't understand why they don't just rotate every year. People would pay a hell of a lot more money to see the yankees/red sox once every few years rather than see the As for the 949350th time.
