Triple post if you wanna read about how fucking weird Zack Greinke's luck has been so far this year:

    http://mlb.sbnation.com/2011/6/16/22...e-brewers-news

Greinke has a 7.7 strikeout-to-walk ratio. That is, he strikes out nearly eight hitters for every one he walks. That’s a superlative mark. If Greinke were to keep this up for the entire season, he’d be the 12th pitcher in history to do it, joining pitchers like Cy Young, Pedro Martinez, Greg Maddux, and, uh, Jon Lieber. Of those seasons, only one pitcher had an ERA+ under 100 -- Hal Brown in 1963. But Brown’s strikeout rate was far below the league average. Greinke’s is 11.6 per nine innings.

There have been only 21 seasons in which a pitcher threw more than 100 innings with a K/9 over 11. The worst ERA of the bunch is Kerry Wood with 3.40, and that came with 85 walks in 166 innings.

So if you combine those two -- a strikeout-to-walk ratio over 7.0, and a K/9 over 11 -- how many seasons are there?

Two. Pedro Martinez in 1999 and 2000. Zack Grienke, when it comes to striking hitters out without walking them, has been just a little less effective in this young season than Pedro Martinez was in two of the greatest pitching seasons of all-time. The strikeout rate will probably drop as the season progresses, for sure, but this shows what level Greinke has been pitching at over his nine starts.

Zack Greinke has a 5.23 ERA this season.
His xFIP is the lowest among all starters in baseball (1.95), and his LOB% is also the lowest (only 56.9%).

I think the only chance he has of getting on the MLB club this year is if he is called up for roster expansions if we're in the playoff hunt. Otherwise I think they prefer he gets every day starts in AAA - which would be fine if our bats off the bench weren't so fucking anemic.
Ugh, yeah. The only non-starter that has done much off the bench has been Josh Wilson. Hopefully Kottaras can help change that, Nieves was terrible.

However Kottaras probably won't PH much, sadly. I hope I'm wrong about that though.

Hanson to the DL, Randall Delgado called up to spot start.

This Braves front office is out of their fucking mind. There's so much wrong with this team, I have no clue how they're over .500. Honestly I don't. The bullpen management's been terrible (who the fuck uses Scott Proctor in the situations Gonzalez has used him in?), replacing Terry Pendleton getting replaced by whoever the fuck this guy is.. was retarded. Yeah, the Braves were never a super offensive club, but at least they could hit for average. The way they've called up their young guys this year has just been awful. Delgado is in no way ready for the big leagues, just like Teheran wasn't. It's just been beyond silly.

A team with this much talent shouldn't be bottom in most offensive categories across the board, and the reason the Marlins fired Fredi Gonzalez is showing. If Venters wasn't a fucking stud, this bullpen would be a mess. George Sherrill, Scott Proctor, Christian Martinez... just lofuckingl. Moylan needs to hurry back, along with Medlen so we can toss him back into the bullpen and get Christian the fuck outta there. Beachy also needs to get healthy, and Uggla needs to fucking hit.

Yeah. /rage post here, but it wouldn't be so bad if the Braves weren't built to win.. but they are, and the management has been horrendous. Please come back, Bobby Cox

Venters is on pace for almost 100 innings this year and Kimbrel isn't too far behind. Fredi needs to cut back on these two a bit before they burn out in September if the Braves hope to make a run at the World Series.

That too. There's been afew cases outright I can think of (up 4-1 against the Astros, do you really need Venters to close down a 3 run lead against the fucking Astros?)

Fredi's terrible so far. People wonder how the Marlins went from one of the worst to one of the best, in the NL, in bullpen rankings.. Hm.

Every so often the Yankees have a game like that, then they'll score 20 runs in the next 2 games

Yanks draw Dempster and Wells this weekend, so yeah that's pretty likely.

Marcum's hurt after 45 pitches in the first inning - groin or leg something, bringing in Marco Estrada. Crawford also pulled a hammy.
