A blog I follow called Scriptshadow (where I first learned about the movie) has a follow up posted on the original script versus the final movie. Some of you might be interested in it particularly in regards to the ending scenes. It has some spoilers so be warned.

Funny you mention that. My mother caught it, when he calls his father in the final jump, the voice on the other end is... Scott Bakula.

After seeing this movie I realized my friends are dumb-asses.

"Dude it's just like inception the go back in this guys dream" - dumb-ass who's favorite movie has been fast 4 and transformers 2

Id give it 4.25 out of 5 stars.

    Spoiler: show
I loved the ending gave it a bit of a sweet note for him since it looked like he was getting fucked in the ass when time stopped. Plus with all the quantum physicist theory or w/e bullshit it only made it better.

When he gets off the train for the first time when he attacks that Arab/Indian/Brown guy you see the train explod but yet he's still around after that 8 minutes (even though it was only for a short while) so it just goes to prove that he could stay in that parallel universe forever. He just died in all the other ones.

    Regarding the tech:
    Spoiler: show
I enjoyed the movie but I had a hard time with the "science" behind it. If i understood it correctly, this technology was supposed to be possible because the human brain retains their last 8 mins before dying. So the environment he was supposed to be in represented just what the guy, Sean Fentress, knew and experienced in his last 8 mins. But Jake does so much that should be outside of this guy's knowledge and experience. Even if the environment represented the collective memory of all the passengers on the train, it still does not make sense. How would they be able to construct an environment in the train station which is outside of their experience?

I know they got around this by explaining that this new world is more than just a figment of the imagination. But why don't the scientists in the movie think it is strange? Why would they think it is possible for someone to hack into the memory of a random passenger and be able to figure out the bomber if that random passenger had nothing to do with the bomb in the first place? Maybe it made sense ultimately to the audience but it should not have made sense to the scientists.

that and the name of this movie is retarded. I can't even say it out loud. Good flick though, I enjoyed it a lot.

Because the guy was all but brain dead and him imagining himself communicating over a camera could only be sent to the girl as text. His brain was being sent the video data though so that's why she used the camera.

Not exactly revolutionary. Brain > Text was done in the 80's with D.A.R.Y.L the Idea was thrown out there a long time ago.

I just saw this (thank goodness my theatre was still showing it) and this was going through my mind while watching it and it's the only thing that bothered me throughout the film and that's okay cause everything else was great. Maybe James Bond's friend (black scientist dude) did one hella good job coding that source code >_>. Also aduidarnenye was right, Michelle Monaghan was great for the role. I'd fall in love too.

    P.S.

Vera Farmiga is such a fox!

That and the ending kinda put this off for me. I'd give it 3 stars personally.

    Also about hid body:

    Spoiler: show
I thought he was still in the dude's body, and he just perceived himself as himself while others still saw the other guy. Was there something I missed that would make us believe otherwise? I suppose we saw Jake in the bubble reflection but that wasn't a true reality, just an alternate that he survived and it could have been shot from his perspective so he'd still see himself.

I thought it was good for a budget film (small sets used for most of the film even with a big name star). A series would only open the door to criticizing the plot holes and be nothing but a quantum leap wanna-be decades after my demographic would accept it.

Yeah I dunno if they could keep the gimmick fresh over an entire series. The reliving events thing works in some movies like this and Groundhog Day. But over multiple seasons that would get frustrating. Maybe they could tweak things to be good though. The movie worked because of some rather specific conditions I think that would be hard to emulate or recreate with multiple characters in less urgent scenarios.

Good movie, it's not a memory of the 8 minutes of the guy. Whether they intended it or not what the technology actually did was create a link between universes by using the brain/memory/identifier of a person. The link was used to plug into a parallel universe to take over the consciousness of the 'target'. In the end, when he is cut off his consciousness is still in the parallel universe instead of being pulled back via the 'source control.'

    Very simple.
