Question about this computer i just recently bought.(Hardware expert needed)

Just purchased this computer less than an hour ago from Best Buy
    http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...=57515&CatId=6

Would of rather built-one but was forced to buy a pre-buit. Along with the Computer i bought this...

    My question:

The PSU on the computer is a Lite-on 300W Power supply...
Will i have to upgrade to a better power supply before i even turn this computer on for the Video card? Reccomendations if so?

    2. The GTX 460 Graphics card came with 1 power connector but has 2 slots as if you need two of these. Do i need to buy another? (see pic below)

    3. Do both of these connect to something? This computer only gave me 1 Connect for this power supply.

    Thanks in advance

Yes, I suggest (according to a psu calc) that you get a 500W PS. At minimum the system will be in the high 300s/low 400s and at most in the mid 400s.

As for brand, there's Seasonic, Thermaltake, Corsair, and Antec. Not sure on the latest best deals for PSUs maybe you can look around or someone might recommend you a site.

Replace the PSU, most decent ones will come with the wires required for the graphic card so you don't have to worry about that.

    Get an OCZ, Antec, Corsair.

The Asus site has a nifty calc to determine the minimum PSU you need.
Ran it for you, says you'll need 450W bare minimum. Probably should go beyond that.

Unrelatedly, why the hell did they put 2*2 and 2*1 RAM in there instead of 2*3?
Sounds like they were trying to get the cheapest 6GB they could find so they could print "hey, this has 6GB!" while keeping hte biggest profit margins, meaning they might even mix different frequencies, latencies and voltages.

Also voting for 500watt min. Get one with actual 6pin headers, not those molex adapters.

Am I missing something stupid, or did you suggest using 3gb sticks of ram? Last I checked the stuff only comes in exponents of 2... and 3gb isn't one? Maybe you meant 3x2? In which case, it probably uses 2x2 and 2x1 to use dual channel since it's likely too shitty to run triple channel.

All that said, they do use the absolute cheapest shit ram you can purchase, and they do mix brands.

Also, even more entertaining: I recently ran across a customer's unit that had a 3x2+1x1gb for a total of 7gb. They penny pinch so badly they couldn't bother to shell out the additional $5 to get the last 2gb stick. Of course, that was HP, and really is no surprise.

Yeah, meant 3*2, huge brainfart there. Single channel isn't optimal for performance, but at least it'd be stable if all 3 sticks were the same.
Any company that mixes up anything that happens to be cheap is basically saying "we don't care about giving consumers the best product, we just want to print bigger numbers in ads".

Every single laptop company that sells in stores does that. It's pure marketing. I recommend customers to order laptops directly from the respective company's website, but even that is nowhere near foolproof. I do think the vast majority of what can be had on a store shelf (best buy, office depot/max, etc) sucks.

Dual channel running 2x1+2x2 can be as stable as anything else; it's more the speed and quality of the ram itself that I have problems with.
