Silent Hill: Eternal Bond (Multi-Player)

Silent Hill has made it back in the news today with another new game offering. Silent Hill: Eternal Bond is for the multiplayer gamers. It takes a family on vaction and puts them in Silent Hill, who wants to go to Silent Hill for vacation anyway?

The game includes four playable characters, the parents and their two tennage kids (boy and girl). There's no word yet of which gaming systems this will be avaiable on or "EXCLUSIVE" to but it will rleases later this year.

This. Silent Hill hasn't been good since SH3. Team Silent was pretty much disbanded at the end of development. The Room was decent at best, and everything after that has sucked.

For some reason I'm expecting this to be an FPS, and a slower-paced version of L4D, with lots of fog making it impossible to see into the distance.


Not sure if I even want to be cautiously optimistic about this.

eh, I hated The Room but I really liked Homecoming. Once you get used to the combat in Homecoming it's actually got a really great story. My theory was that people didn't really get the combat, after 4 entries of being able to wail away with a katana and just stand there nobody was really expecting such difficult combat that requires dodging and learning enemy attack patterns.

I thought the story in Origins was pretty great as well, although parts of the combat they borrowed from The Room (item durability) and an overall needless difficulty increase made it kinda lackluster in comparison with the original. The mirror universe aspect was a pretty neat idea too, although I think being on the PSP still made it feel linear.

I actually really enjoyed seeing Shattered Memories retelling of the events of SH1 but the whole ice universe thing was pretty retarded. The interludes between sequences in the Doctors office and the really well fleshed out game world (collectibles, and the ability to use your in-game cell phone to call almost every number in the game was awesome) exploration gave it a really nice atmosphere. I really think they would have had a hit if they actually made it a real SH game with combat and everything, but oh well.

So yeah I guess my point is that I think that Homecoming/Origins/Shattered Memories may get a bad rap, even The Room to an extent, but I definitely agree that there's been a pretty big decrease in quality since 3 though, with 2 and 3 still being some of the best survival horror games of all time. Hell, even 1 has aged well, especially if you're gonna play it on a PSP downloaded from the internet.

I guess we'll get a new RE game on 3DS at some point too.

I have played way too many bad survival horror games come to think of it. Why do I cut this genre such slack?

Have you ever played Haunting Ground? It's made by Capcom and was put out I dunno, 5 years ago or so for PS2. It's pretty intense. I felt genuinely intimidated at times, and I can't say how long it's been since a survival horror game has done that to me. It's really worth a playthrough, and it took me about 10 hours to beat. Decent story (nothing jaw dropping) to boot.

I can't wait for 3DS software to start coming out like it does for DS now. I realize it might be a while, and my 3DS is nothing more than a glorified DS/ showoff to your friends thing, but I know there will be some great stuff coming out of it.

nah i havent but it's on my list of stuff to get, along with clock tower 3 and the first Obscure game. I want to get through Rule of Rose at some point too, because I hear the story gets reaaaaaaaally fucked up eventually

SH on the Wii wasn't terrible. Was just awkward nothing having any weapons & the game was kinda short. IMO the controls were some of the best I've played in a SH game (minus doors n_n).

Rule of Rose is an absolutely terrible game in terms of gameplay, but the story and atmosphere are some of the best I've ever come across. Too bad no one played it due to poor reviews and the fact that it got banned in a lot of places. Also, whoever said they liked Haunting Ground should play Clock Tower 3 if they haven't already - the first few levels can be pretty scary/disturbing, shame it gets silly at the end.

I agree with atreides; i liked Homecoming. Decent gameplay in a SH game with so so story was good.

And i agree with waffles, Rule of Rose is a must play, even if the gameplay sucks. Or at least watch the youtube videos.
