Unrelated, but related kinda. I had forgotten the new pw I had setup for my ps3 after the network went down and I had to call sony because apparently the forgot password system wasn't working right. They said it could take up to 14 days to receive the fucking email to reset the pw. Well it only took me 3 days to remember the password. Fucking Sony, useless as always.

What are the chances of a non bc 80gb ps3 bricking from this update? Kinda scared to do it now. Never had a single problem with this ps3 and I sure as hell don't want to now. Seems like a small percentage is encountering it.

I'd agree it's probably a small portion. Only way is to play something and see what the ps3 does. If it sounds like the fan is going berserk just stop for a bit.

Hacking group threatens 'the end' of Sony

While Sony is ready to put the past behind it and move on with a safer, more robust PlayStation Network, the hackers have not had their fill. At least as far as one group, LulzSec, is concerned. The hacker group has promised further attacks, and promises to "end" Sony with its actions.

LulzSec is implicated in the hacking of Sony BGM's music site and says that "Phase One" of its grand master plan is going to begin soon. According to the group's Twitter account, "Sony happens when Sony happens - we're celebrating our victory right now. The fun will never stop!"

The group claims to have already hacked into Sony's servers again, but so far no result of such an action has been publicized. It says that the "Sownage" will be unleashed at a "Steady pace."

There's little doubt that hackers, eager to prove their skills, will attempt to infiltrate the newly secured PlayStation Network. I have this horrible feeling that the extra security will just present a more tempting challenge and greater effort to crack it open.

Old-school hacker groups were actually really big on ASCII art and talking like a bunch of obnoxious kids (l33t speak everywhere). I've always wondered how groups of such juvenile people could be so clever, but they often are.

It doesn't mean this SPECIFIC group is good, but if you rule out hacker groups by the way they act on the internet you know nothing about the late 80s and early 90s lol

Just try it a few times, you'll get in. The free rewards were released today, so the store is bogged down with everyone downloading GBs of games.

I'm not really impressed with the sony+ store. Unless they took a lot off before letting people get it free, i have no idea why people would pay extra for that stuff. I even seen the "discount" for certain games... one was for a massive 39 cents...

Finally logged in and went to the free game thing. I hit circle twice instead of once after activating the 'free game 1' thing and now there is no way to get back to it and it's only letting me download one out of the two games.

Great programming as usual sony!

PSN is a clusterfuck right now, errors all over the place. For those having the same problem as me and Daydreamer above, try this (courtesy of buddy Minions in the other thread):

Q: I no longer have the option to choose my free Welcome Back games. What can I do?
A: If you navigate away from the Welcome Back section of the store without choosing your free games or exit the store completely you may need to follow the below in order to choose and download your free games.

1.On your PlayStation 3 or PlayStation Portable navigate to the PlayStation Network icon on the XMB

2.Log into your PlayStation Network account and choose Account Management Transaction Management Services List

3.Choose "PlayStation Network Promotions" from the list of services displayed

4.Select either "PS3 Free Games" or "PSP Free Games" and then choose "Select Content"

You will be taken to the store to choose your remaining free games.

Still having trouble downloading dead nation though.
