As long as this isn't like Breath of Fire 5, I'll probably be happy with it.

Dragon Quarter was one of those games that suffered from the series title. By itself, it was an interesting idea that was well-polished, if a little overdependent on replayability (something that's VERY hard to playtest in QA). I enjoyed the game pretty thoroughly, actually. There is no mistake, however, that it was a HUGE departure from the series beforehand. Having something a bit more traditional would be kind of nice...

...that being said, it's almost certainly going to be a handheld title, but don't pin it entirely on 3DS, they've shown a willingness to develop for PSP as well. Given the response to BoF5, Capcom isn't likely to invest current-gen-console-level resources into it... I wouldn't mind being wrong about this, though.

    boners for you. This.

Actually, I'd probably be pretty happy if it was anything like 2~4. I enjoyed 5, but it was obviously the weakest link.

I replayed BoF2 recently with the re-translation ROM patch, was pretty awesome. Made it even more of my favorite than it already is haha.

BoF 4 with dragon genes from 3 would have hands down been the best entry in the series. No one could argue it.

BoF 4 is far superior in so many ways, especially when it comes to story and making you sympathize with the 'bad guy'. Hell, first playthrough... I joined with his ass and got BAD END.
(though 3 would still have better music and character designs, and 2 would still have the hottest Nina)

I preferred Rei over Cray, even though Cray is probably a more developed character. Aside from that, cosigned. Needing to do the minigames for points to level up the dragons in 4 was annoying, although being to learn skills from them in 4 unlike 3 was a timesaver.

I'd prefer it not be on the 3DS since I don't plan on getting 1, but if this game is awesome like the previous entries then I'll have to bite the bullet I suppose.

There's no denying BoF 4 was great, but like you implied, music, character design and dragon splicing in BoF3 was insanely badass. My favorite BoF, hands down. Also, I felt sorrier for Teepo than I did Fou-Lu.

The dragon gene system from 3 was cool and all, but I think I still prefer the Shaman fusion system from 2. Hell, both together would be amazing.

Breath of Fire is one of those series that always did something right... then Dragon Quarter happened and I think it made too many people forget about the series entirely.

Oh man, I remember I spent countless hours leveling up my characters to ridiculous levels because I read in a strategy guide you can beat those stupid horses at the beginning.

For some kids, they when they realize Santa wasn't real. For me, I when I realized Teepo was really never coming back.

Sorry, can't hold it any longer, I have to post some damn music.

This better be fucking BOF and not some advertising bullshit like Capcom pulled last time.

I tried SO MANY TIMES to win the very first fight with the Beak and the fight with Tiga. Unfortunately they are scripted (as I found out later with emulation/hacks). Trubo was always a significantly tough fight, I must say. Bleu was completely hax to have at first opportunity though.

Also, the music that plays when Ryu's friends are all encased in crystal and shattered and he starts charging at Deathevan, ignoring all the explosions around him... is the most epic, emotive, and triumphant music for me.

BoF2 was my first game that I was obsessed with. I think I played through the game like 3 times before it even occured to me to try to defeat the 3-eyeball boss in the Grand Church basement without killing the old man in the process. When I was teleported back to Hometown and the whole place started flying, I literally felt like I was dreaming. Like I was going to wake up and be like "a flying town?? man, of course the game couldn't have been that awesome."

GBA ports of BoF1&2 were pretty good, still own them. I don't have many fond memories of the first two games than I do three and four.

I remember on one of my playthroughs I gamesharked it just for that fight, only to spend like 30 mins or so wondering why the fuck they wouldn't die, hoping that they were just super tough bosses ;x Same with the first fight against Garr.. Spent forever fighting him just to have him Lucky Strike and KO.

Also, I srsly cried when you reunite with Rei at Cedar Woods..

    Edit:

Some more badass BoF 3 OST music~

There has been some additional content added to the teaser page: http://www.andriasang.com/e/blog/201...d_site_update/

Capcom's recently unveiled "DD" countdown site is the evolving type of countdown site, which gets new bits of content as the reveal date approaches. The site originally started off with a nearly invisible outline of a dragon. The outline became more visible yesterday. Today, we discovered that the dragon has a heart... and a beating one, at that!

Not that I've bothered to check or anything, but it appears that some have parsed the page's resources and come upon these background images.
    Spoiler: show

Assuming that's background art for the mystery game, a new Breath of Fire looks unlikely.
We'll find out for sure on the 12th. But until then, you may want to keep checking the site daily for clues.
    I want to believe...

I'm not sure if it's nostalgia, but damn, I loved that game back then. Sure, the story wasnt well written by today standard, but the mood was just great, especially toward the end.
