Oh yeh of course, I knew about the extras but they're just extensions for completionists/achievements/trophies.

In that case, as I'm unable to find information, what is the criteria to unlock the super secret true final level + super sonic awesome? Special stages (which I've seen none), Chaos Emeralds, to ... buy it from the skill shop? lol

But overall, I personally don't think the game would be at all difficult and can be completed in one sitting (no 100% achievement), then backtrack to find the unlockables. But whether a straight rush (but an enjoyable one at that) to the very end would unlock the true final level or not I don't know lol!

EDIT: before anyone calls my bluff, I'm impatient and eager to get started to see if the game is challenging fun! =)

All i can say is that some of the pro paths I tried to get on my 2nd playthrough of chemical plant just kicked my butt. Blind air dashes and quick homing-ins and such.

This. Some of the more lucrative paths through the level are batshit insane. They shave off a good 20-30 seconds, even up to a minute if you can keep going through them, but I always screw up and end back in the slow lane. There are achievments/trophies for completing some levels in x amount of time, iirc. Like Green Hill completion in under 1 minute. I've only come as close as 1:34 so far.

Definitely enjoying this game, though. Some of the challenges are pretty fun, and the music just takes me back to those days of sitting in front of my giant Tube TV in the living room grinding Sonic into the early morning. Couldn't be happier.

Also, holy shit at Classic Sky Sanctuary. I thought I was going to die so many times hahaha.

Theres artwork to find in stages and a skill shop to complete. Some things you can't even get without the proper skills, such as wall bounce. So that is a bit of replay if you like completing things. Hopefully DLC will come too!

Lol just got back from work and saw the screenshot.

Took me a minute or so to realise it said to purchase it from the skill shop to Play Sonic 2.

Initially I read it as "purchase Sega Genesis" (from somewhere) to play it haha

They're almost, if not the exact same as Sonic Colors. Better level design helps, though. I'm convinced some people are just terrible. I'm not having any problems.

Side note: Didn't someone mention unlocking the original Sonic games would be very difficult? So far it looks like buy the controller from the skill shop for 7777 points and done.

I'm not sure what kind of standards you're holding these people up to but I've never once played a sonic game and felt like I was good on my first playthrough of any stage. That's just the way the games are designed. There are always platforming sections that you're inevitably going to be stumbling your way through on your first run because the game just plain doesn't let you see far enough ahead to react to anything at full speed.

That's just the way the games are designed. There are always platforming sections that you're inevitably going to be stumbling your way through on your first run because the game just plain doesn't let you see far enough ahead to react to anything at full speed.

I think some got too used to the "hit object, auto-cutscene for 30s" thing previous Sonic games introduced? =p

Otherwise when I touched the Modern Sonic demo over the weekend my mate commented on "you're good at this!" about 10s in! XD (I collected some rings, found my boost button, everything else came naturally)

It's all about perception of games in my opinion.

Ever seen Billy MC's Lets Play videos? (and the subsequent piss-take dub by 2 guys over at SomethingAwful) -- Regardless of how old he was, and despite Super Mario Bros: The Lost Levels being a difficult game for its time, it's a prime example of someone playing platform games modernly with absolutely no perception. I can remember clearly when I was watching it once and he just fell into a bottomless pit, followed by a cruel laugh by me AND the piss-take dub because we didn't see that coming haha.

Generations related: There are hard mode boss/rival battles that are a lot of fun. And skill bonus missions are so good I.E. Chemical Plant with the Sonic 3 bubble shield.

So much this. My only saving grace is having a birthday and the holidays in this time frame, but damned if there isn't just too much stuff to buy in too small of a portion of the year. Early 2012 isn't shaping up to be much easier on the wallet either.

To this date I don't think I've ever beaten this game, let alone got past stage 2, but I was like 4 at the time.

Sonic Spinball kinda sucks ass, but for some reason I finished it. I do remember being able to literally fall all the back down to the start, but it's been a while so maybe I'm exaggerating.

Music wasn't particularly good, but the Toxic Caves are memorable lol
