omg is that the jumping sound byte from sonic CD/knuckles' chaotix in 2d sonic mode?
I'm sold.
so you wont just play the demo forever and make you buy the game... silly, but w/e.
I know when I was broke, i used to love XBL because every game had a demo... i used to download hella demos.. same with old PS2 demo discs
Agreed, coming from a poor family background demos were pure gold back then. i.e. That 25 minute limit of Rollercoaster Tycoon back in the 1998s or so kept me going for a long time.
Still, I'll go download this when I get home. Lets see if I'll be disappointed.
Friendly reminder
Joystiq says the demo is out! (I won't be able to try it out until I get home from work...)
Loving the demo, but is it me or is the game (atleast the demo) not in HD? Maybe my xbox settings were off, but something definately didn't seem right.
Maybe....

In classic mode, only classic resolution is available?
*I totally fail in finding a sunglasses pic, but this was the best I could do in an open office using Googe Image search without clients asking me what I am doing
thats when you slap em in the fuckin mouth and say mind your fuckin business.
I got the demo on our 360, its a lot of fun, and gorgeous to look at. Also Sonic moves fast, not sluggish like in sonic 4 ep 1. The movement issues in sonic 4 almost makes it unplayable for me. Also happy 20th birthday Sonic, keep on running![]()
So the demo on PSN isn't out yet correct? Until they get the jp one up and running? Canceled my XBL account long time ago.
Demo is out, can download it on EU PSN store.
Downloading the US one on PSN too.
Wow... that demo just sold me so far. If the newage Sonic plays well in its own rite this could really .... nevermind, won't say it.
But you know.
Got the demo a little while ago. Controls are a little rigid, and there was one time that I jumped to what I thought was a platform and it was just the background lol.
Otherwise, good game.
Hopes are super high
Modern Sonic plays almost exactly like Daytime Sonic from Sonic Unleashed with a few tweaks here and there. I'm surprised only Classic Sonic is avalible for the demo seeing as how both Classic and Modern Sonic were available to play at E3.
Honestly, I would have like to have seen Sega return Modern Sonic to his SA1 / SA2 gameplay mechanics instead of Sonic Unleashed.
Yeah I really thought they did it right the first time. Those controls were pretty tight, perfect balance of speed and platforming IMO. I never understood why they steered away from that engine, but I thought Sonic Unleashed's Sonic stages were alright so hopefully I'll like that as much as retro Sonic.
Also, Chemical Plant, yesssssssssssmusic.
Don't get me wrong, I fully believe Sonic Adventure 1 & 2's engine was superior as a whole in comparison to Sonic Unleashed but those engines also had huge problems. Collision detection was probably one of the worst problems with those games as it seemed like you were just bouncing off of everything. The other problem was that Sonic was far too easy to move around when he hit peak speeds which made controlling him a bit clunky at times. You'd be running around in Windy Hill and you'd hit a wall because Sonic was so easy to move around at peak speeds it was ridiculous at times (This was handled better in Sonic Adventure 2 but it still had issues.)
Even with all those problems though, the previous engine was probably a wonderful blueprint for what future Sonic games could have been. Sonic was not as ludicrously fast as was in Sonic Unleashed in Sonic Adventure 1 & 2 but he didn't need to. There was a sense of balance with the speed and platforming with the Dreamcast games that I feel the newer Sonic games lack.
Sonic and Tails' levels in Sonic Adventure 1 were easily the most exhilarating.
