Just coming back to the game from about 8 months hiatus, what kind of gear would the average player have for MNK and DNC TP and WS sets?

Thanks. As for his pocketbook, that's up to him. I probably won't be ferrying him too much gil, but it's not like it's too hard to make nowadays anyways. He's pretty much starting from scratch, but he's an old friend and I have a pretty solid team already so it shouldn't be too hard to get him up and running. Rose Strap is probably going to be the worst part of it. Campaign is balls.
Look into tantra+1 set/atheling mantle/thew bomblet/taurine cesti. Good start from there and you can upgrade later.
My own question: where is a good spot to do trial 823 for staff (50+ thunder damage on slime mobs). Did they add any slime enemies that aren't a PITA to reach with the dungeon adjustments?
Another question, if I don't have my Wings of the goddess disk, will that be a problem?
Edit: How do I get playonline to run on vista?
I realised how bullshit my post looks. So I'll make a fuck ton of assumptions, and address the post with the added info you gave:
Starting out from scratch, easy GA to get would be Vermeil bhuj > Widowmaker. For this comparison both are 504 delay which is convenient (less so when you change to an Ukon). 504 generates 13.7 TP/hit truncated. For a 6 hit build you need a total of 22 STp (16.7 TP/hit), 5 hit requires 46 STp (20 TP/hit). This assumes a static STp across all hits, I'll leave it up to you if you want to load more onto the TP phase to allow less STp on Ws set in favour of greater stat boosts.
So /sam gives 15STp, making a 6 hit pretty pisseasy. A 5hit is looking at the added 31, which is doable but you'll need aRose strap in the end really, for a Ukon without relying on outside influences such as Corsair rolls.
Widow/Pole/./White
Zelus/Almah/Brutal/Moonshade(aug Att+4/Regain)
AF3+2/AF3+2/Hoard/Rajas
Tactical/Goading/AF3+2/AF3+2
...gives 33STp + at least 1 tic from regain. This would leave some room for manoeuvre on the WS set, and allow you to work on Rose in the meantime. This leaves you free to use a food of your choice also, removing the reliance on lesser attack from carbonara should you wish.
The problem there I see, would lie in getting an Almah and Moonshade, perhaps the Tactical. All can be gotten within the spam of a normal day of play (ie. Substantially less than 24h), but require a bit more going out of the way.
As I said this is all making a large number of assumptions, and I'm sure most of it can be played with according to what you want to/don't want to try getting. I'm happy to explain anything or whatever, incase this was too vague.
Also yeah, that is only 25% gear listed haste. I'm not wearing Perle muffles ever again, but it's your call if you want to pickup the lost ~1%' the hand slot would be the best compromise (dusk, lolwtfnyzulhands, etc).
POL down for anyone else?
Edit: Nvm, idk what happened.
Is there a way for me to set blinkmenot to always have it work "in combat" when logging in?
Is capped amber best for KI chests?
.blinkmenot alwaysothers on
.blinkmenot alwaysself off
Will always work on other PC's, will allow your character to blink so you can see what gear you have on. By default combatself and combatothers are on.
Put it in your init.txt under load blinkmenot
ymmv, ever since Hero's came out BMN's been twitchy for me, it seems to work the way it wants when it wants.
really? mines defaulted @ everything on, I only have those specifics set on my alt computer for my WHM. but as was said already, put them in your init.txt under load blinkmenot
loadblinkmenot
.blinkmenot alwaysothers on
.blinkmenot alwaysself off
works like a pro
If you leech off chests, you can take your Monk to 90 /BLM.
I am planning on doing aristocrat + roundel + af3 hat + cure pot staff to hit 49% cure pot. Is that the best combination for cure potency if you want to get the most benefit from other slots? I don't want to use serpentes hands/feet for anything but idle since its 2 slots for 5 cure pot and I would rather use for haste or mnd or enm or what??.
I have been gone since 2009 so I really don't know wtf I'm doing.
Sorry if this should go in the Dynamis thread, but quite a few pages is just about staggering. I never really did Dynamis so I don't know really anything other then kill shit, kill boss, click ???. With level increase what would be the bare minimum to take into cities for win? Also, how would 2 Bst fair in Dynamis?
Well, you have three basic options that I've found to work (though I haven't used them all personally):
1) Set the party up yourself.
2) Offer to provide a service (such as building Azure using your Black Mage when necessary) in exchange for being allowed to leech/key indefinitely. Kill an elemental or two to re-cap azure, warp and change to your leech job, go to 90!
3) Pay, but if you're going this route you should make sure it's a good party.
It is my experience that most pickup Abyssea alliances peak just before everyone goes to change jobs. Then you end up with too many leechers and stupid jobs. So if you're going to pay, don't pay for shit xp.
For some reason, two of my most trusted utilities, KParser and ApRadar 2, are no longer working. I have updated KParser's memloc, but it isn't picking up anything. Likewise, unlocking ApRadar doesn't show anything (e.g., VNMs).
Has anyone else experienced this problem, and/or are you aware of a fix?
