Im taking WAR to 90...Now, due to circumstances i wont be able to make the empy gaxe...but i will make the WoE one (this may also take some time.) I was just kinda curious to know what the heirarchy is for magian Gaxes and axes....for DD purposes. Any thoughts? For Gaxe, i was intrigued by the Kunlun with DA+8...the dmg looks pretty beefy, and also that delay looks ok to help with reaching any x-hit build. For axe, i was looking at the combo of the DA+? axe with the store TP axe in the offhand? Am i totally offbase? HELP!

Mini edit, I'm not sure if Zahak's is worthwhile if you have access to Grim inside Abyssea actually. I've asked a couple of times but it always seems to spark a few pages of debate and I never get a clear answer.

RE: WAR: Motenten's spreadsheet indicates 6-hit is superior to 5-hit for Ukon fwiw, inside and outside Abyssea. Concerns about regain were previously voiced on this but I looked into that and it appears to work properly. Bear in mind it's at least partially due to SS now being useful, at least inside Abyssea.

Recently burned my blu and dnc to 75+, got a few questions:

What weapons should I be aiming for? I will eventually do an Almace for BLU, but until then, what swords should I be looking at? (Non-magian and magian) And same for DNC, although I don't plan on doing Twashtar, and honestly have no clue at all. (Assuming most choices will be magian only)

Also, since the merit expansion, would blue magic skill be the best option after enfeebling/elemental?

2x STR is semi-quick (lack of fire weather is a cockblock but Abyssea helps) and probably your best bet unless you feel that you'll need a DEX sword at some point, in which case I'd make one of each. I do recommend blue magic merits, they add much-needed attack and damage tiers to your physical spells.

With RR/VV/AoA, using my listed Outside set will get you a 100TP in 5hits with 2 ticks of VV allowing you to eat RCB. If SQ/RR/AoA is an option being considered, that allows you to drop 20STP and bring in a lot of alternatives. That being said, I'm not entirely sure where SQ/RR/AoA ranks in the hierarchy for WARs. It started a debate in the What's Better thread between two people, but then the Critical Damage cap was lifted and SS seemed to be the new VV replacement.

To Byrthnoth's point earlier, he's definitely spot on in that you give up a lot of other stats to 5hit outside; I had personally just never questioned the status quo of it. With Sword Strap, your 6hit set would look like this:

When it first came out, it doubled or tripled the length, but didn't increase potency. I haven't checked since, but don't think potency was changed in any subsequent updates.

I assume you mean SQ/RR/AoA 5hit v. RR/SS/AoA 6hit? I have not. Again, all the looking gear sets I looked into and questions I asked basically led to "go for 5 hit" and so I haven't ever considered dropping a hit for alternative armor. If dropping to a 6hit was going to be the path to take though, what would be the better option for grip at that point? Claymore or Sword?

RR/SS/AoA 6-hit vs whatever your preferred atma setup was, I think you said VV instead of SQ. Sword Strap probably works with the regain earring but Claymore beats it if that's not an option from what I've seen.

You'll find most people did hyoton because the tools are very cheap - it also works well on murex/ameoba.
