I want to be a support RDM with extremely potent debuffs, what would be the best way to merit for that role?
Probably the "old" 4 slow2 4 para2 2 dia3, but don't take it for granite. It depends on so many things; are you low-manning? Is another rdm present? Is the fight being evasion tanked? There is no universal "best" set for rdm, even within what you ask.
just finished 50 plates and im onto colorless souls. Ive done 4 ifrits so far all with like th9 procs, only to get one double drop. havent tried levi or diabolos yet. Does one of the 3 have a higher x2 drop rate? or am i just getting unlucky? I can duo ifrit rather easily mnk-whm. Is levi and diabolos similar, or anything special i should know about? thanks
5/5 Phalanx 2 cause thats all RDM is good for in cleaves
But really, 1/5 Slow II 1/5 Para II and prob 2/3 Dia III and the rest go from there.
Many people say Slow and Para arent as useful inside abyssea because if you use a MNK tank it will slow their counterrate/chances to counter. Hard to say what things will be like outside abyssea as of right now we only have Voidwatch as an out of abyssea event.
Thanks ^-^ .Mostly lowman, no other RDM present. What is the reasoning behind the "old" 4/4/2 build you suggested?
For NIN Melee [non-ws]: AF3+2 body or AF1+1 body? For Jin: AF3+2 body or Taranis' Harness?
You're testing my memory now, haha. I remember the justification for 2 dia3 was that any non-NM you fight should be dead before you have to re-apply it, and obviously the extra defence down helps on everything which is why dia3 was considered a must, generally. Slow and Para was because their potency wasn't found to be capped just with Sabo (I think?), so additional merits gave more slow/more para procs, which was (is?) considered more useful than the extra evasion you'd get from blind2 compared to blind1. But these days? I really don't know, it depends on so much stuff that it feels impossible to pick a merit set and say "this is best", and it's perfectly possible I'm wrong.
Asked previous but with no reply~
Whitemage bar spells. 5/5 AF3+2 set or 4/5 w/ clerics pantaloons? Is the 1% extra proc rate worth loosing 20 elemental resist?
Abyssea: AF+1 unless delay reduction capped, in which case AF3+2
Outside: Generally the same for old content, potentially AF3 for some of the higher level NMs. On new content where level correction and defense may actually be a factor, AF3+2 will potentially edge out AF+1.
I think you actually did get a reply, might wanna check back. I think it was "fuck setbonus, I use Blessed Body and Clerics Pants".
Anyway. There is no right or wrong on this really since it depends on how strong the actual elemental attack is. Fighting lower tier stuffs or stacking up ele resists with a BRD/gear? +20 Ele resist might actually do something. Fight hard stuff? Will stomp on your Ele Resist and Set proc becomes better.
For players using a macbook air/pro with bootcamp, how do you handle the key mapping? mainly control, alt, and numpad + and -. I've got an iMac i play on with bootcamp but I have problems with the above -- the latter due to the wireless keyboard missing a numpad.
If I switch to Windy and do the missions/quests to get the portal charm for the 3-mage gate, do I keep it upon switching back to bastok?
Sweet, thanks for the reply. I figured Orison +2 would beat out Blessed body, but wasn't sure on where to draw the line with af3/clerics pants.
If you had no issues with Ifrit, you will be fine with Levi. Don't panic if you die at 1% to Tidal Wave. Your WHM can finish it off with a holy.
Graubergs T3 can be lame b/c the hate reset / draw-in > nightmare combo. But if you decide to do this, your mage should be outside PT.
Does race have any effect on your fellow's stats? specifically hp/mp
