How do I get a better FPS in FFXI with a relatively new desktop?

windows 7
Pentium Dual Core E5300 2.60 GHz
4.00GB RAM
54 Bit Operating System
NVIDIA GeGorce 7050/ NVIDIA nForce 620i
Internet running at 54 Mbps

I wanna make the graphics better and run faster. I feel like even though my system is barebones by 2011 standard it should be running a 10 year old game way smoother than it is now. I have massive slowdown during Fire spells and run 25-27 FPS normally and 14-17FPS in combat. Only running AIM in background...

So I recently just got NIN to 84ish...

There's obvious stuff like AF3 to get and such, but what kinda katanas should I use? Is there specific gear sets that might be important?

Any equipment priorities to set perhaps?

Are Iron Plates and Colorless Souls for Ochain/Daurdabla affected by blue weakness unlike other Empyrean upgrade items, or have I just been having a streak of bad luck with TH8+?

Its pretty much luck. I once get stoned with 4 shadows and I lived through it but another time I didn't since it has pretty much floored acc on 90 NIN in evasion equip but still hits for 400 so you just need to be lucky because petri can last for about 60 sec from what I remember.

EDIT: When I think about it maybe it was at 85 lvl when I did it.

If you have a Fellow NPC in healer mode he is capable of casting Stona. Just keep your HP high so he doesn't blow up all his MP on useless Cure V's.

Answering from a healer's point of view (friend usually tanks most NMs), as THF+BLM duo I don't think you have much chance against Theuggia, she nukes often, fast and hard. BLM/WHM just won't have enough healing power. Try getting yourself a healer (I go WHM for NMs, so no idea if RDM or SCH would be enough) by offering seals you don't need.
As for Chione, she feels somewhat easier to me to handle, you can outrun it's Rush, turn around to avoid spikes during casting and stun some -agas. You could give it a try, your THF would need ~2500-2900 HP and few pieces of MDT gear, I'd say, but by all means go and look her up.

Kinda curious about the Katana question myself, I'm not prioritizing a Kannagi/WOE Emp. but I'd like to have acceptable Katanas when I need to be on NIN instead of my WAR.

When dual-boxing, I always end up having one character that is so laggy it's painful to navigate even the macro menu, and the other char runs just fine. Is there some setting somewhere I need to change to make both characters run at a speed that's conducive to actually be more helpful?

Is there an easier way to target people in an Alliance? Maybe some sort of Windower plugin?

For example, when I'm healing in Abyssea I always have to spam tab until I target the right person that needs healing, which wastes a good chunk of time.
