ive personally seen war/sam with terras staff do 2100 or so. he was jp so all he could really tell me was tp +100 and MAB atma. he didnt have any MAB gear, and im not sure if he used a tonic or 200% tp

I'd believe that. Cataclysm should be stronger than Aeolian Edge, and my Edges do ~1700 damage at around 100 TP. 4000 simply isn't happening though.
what atma/gear do you use with edge? any of the fTP belt/gorgets? i was considering getting the shadow ones for cataclysm, which would also double for evicersation and whatnot
how much DW does nusku's sash have?
how much DW is too much ?
oops
I use it on Dancer, which I prefer because I can easily dualbox cleave with my Bard mule. I go with Ultimate/Baying Moon/Gales, though you'd want to use Smiting Blow over Baying Moon if you aren't using Martial Knife.
I use this gear (http://www.ffxiah.com/item-sets/197516). Furin Obi replaces Soil belt on Windsday. I could make some kind of a rule to switch Artemis' Medal in when appropriate, but I haven't yet. The demon rings each have 3 MAB and the pants have 4 MAB. I haven't actually done any math or tests to show the gear/stat tradeoff ratio, but I think that this is the best option I have.
Colenzo, Nusku's has 5% Dual Wield. If you can hit the delay cap in two ways, through Dual Wield or Haste, then you'd rather hit it with Haste than Dual Wield. Until you're dealing with the Delay cap though, you generally want to stack whichever makes you swing the fastest.
When I was cleave with mnk/blm in grauberg on spectators at 300% I was doing 3100 with smiting blow/ultimate/cosmos. Since WAR can equip much better gear then I had on mnk and griffon instead of smiting blow and at 300tp 4k is very possible.
So I got WHM to 20 and BLM to 10 and I started to check AH for non-NPC/quested spells. Prices are insane right now! 50k for Invis? 550k for Phalanx? 800k for Utsu Ni? Beginning to think that leveling a mage job as a first account job is a bad idea. (BLM and RDM mostly, though WHM sucks a bit too) Thoughts? Should I just quit while I'm ahead and pick a more cost effective job until I can amass some cruor gil?
were you purposely waiting till 300 with smiting blow? im not sure what war could do differently since only MAB gear really matter, i think MNK has the upper hand with being able to use martial staff. also, i tried A.edging the monitors in grauberg, and if i had more than 10 at a time, they would crash everyone in the pt.
220 STR, 150 INT, 55 MAB from gear/traits, 300TP (5 fTP by wiki) with Cosmos/Ultimate/Smiting Blow, using Pluto's staff, and a standard fINT function (32 cap):
((90+2+56+38 )*5 + 32)*(1+.55+.5)*1.4*1.15 = 3175 damage
Griffon's claw is what, 25% damage? Toss in an Ascetic's Tonic with Griffon's Claw and that would be almost 4.5k then, sure. Forgot about Griffon's Claw. I guess that may be viable if you can pump the damage up enough that you can solo cleave in a single 300TP WS. Pop an ISL, get 300TP again, repeat. If you're doing it this way, Pluto's is better than Martial Staff. Realistically you'll rarely WS at 100TP (+100 from Smiting is 200) so you'd waste part of your martial staff bonus almost all the time anyway.
If you go /RDM, you gain Phalanx and don't lose any MAB. I wonder if you could wear enough PDT gear to near-0-out Mandy hits and just solo cleave this way on WAR/RDM.
So... apparently world transfer service is down, anyone hear anything about this?
Most spells are sold from npcs or dropped by easily killed mobs (Invis drops off low level quads iirc). Check wiki before you buy anything off AH. For the BCNM spells, just save your seals and get one of the useful jobs to spam any bc40 to get those. If you get blm to 40 you can do UO for pcc/phalanx/Ni. If you try and buy everything from the AH you'll be constantly broke.
On another note I've cleaved detectors (8-10+) in altep before and didn't crash, nor did anyone in my pt.
I've Aeolian Edge'd >10 detectors in Ule without issue before. I didn't do it very many times though, so if it only happens sometimes I might not have caught it.
The formula came from the top of here:
http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/wiki/Ca...n_Skill_Damage
i did the detectors there for about 2 hours (medium sized pulls) without a problem, then i did a relatively large pull (15 mobs) and everyone crashed from a.edge. then after a good laugh, i did another medium pull, and 2 people crashed. the screen froze at the brightest point of A.edge
Invisible is that way because NOBODY kills the goblin that drops it, you can farm it easily, though. Phalanx and Ni only come from BCNM's, no one exps outside = no seals = no scrolls. Cruor gil is ok, at best. 200k cruor = ~500k gil. A cost effective job would be wiser, yes. But you'll eventuallly run into that one item you need. (Usually Ni.) If you can farm wind crystals, they are ok money. (Fluctuates from 3-6k/stack on shiva.) My only advice for Ni/Phalanx is hold onto your seals and hope, once you hit 40.
BLU(sans Ni), SMN, DNC(Sans Ni), MNK, THF are a few relatively cheap jobs that can be used to farm things. Moreso THF for outside stuff. (Unless you're JOB/rng slaughtering wind elementals in buburimu, like I've seen some people do.)
Edit: Almost forgot, just because something is expensive at the NPC, doesn't always mean it's more expensive on the AH. Some scrolls are both bought from npcs and dropped from monsters.
I play with the lowest, shittiest settings possible on PC, so that could be helping me in this case.
Yeah, I am aware you can farm the scrolls, but in doing so in the past I've noticed horrible drop rates. Similarly with BCNMs you pretty much have to farm seals to do multiple runs (which I undoubtedly will have to do.) Is it worth the time to farm? Meh..might just take WHM up first since it's cheapest and go from there. @_@
