Anyone know why a bunch of the Kannagi owners on my server are selling off Hachiryu Sune-Ate? They not as good as believed?

My guess would be that they're attempting to sell them high before the Ver.UP and the assumed shift away from Abyssea, where, coupled with the lack of cruor buffs/atma and the potential for new (better) gear, the utility of the Sune-Ate (and pure AGI gear in general) is reduced.

I saw that chart too and tried Savage once on shinryu, but got pretty shitty results (without mighty strikes). Ukko's gave me much nicer numbers.

Quickest way to calculate what should be best would just be multiplying total FTP on the WS by the total mod on the WS. Empyrean WSes are generally the best among that weapon type since they have much higher mods and FTP than most other WSes. Savage blade is 2 * 0.8 for 1.6, Ukko's is 3.0 * .6 for 1.8 and can crit, Fudo is 3.65 * .6 for 2.19, Smite is 5.25 * .6 for 3.15 and can crit, Hi is 5 * .6 for 3.0 and can crit, Torcleaver is 4.75 * .6 for 2.85.

I think Savage could actually be a pretty powerful brew WS, but you'd have to set it up right.

Firstly, the worst thing about savage is it's low FTP at 100% TP. But, that can be fixed. With Smiting Blow, and a TP Bonus 100 machaera +2(or a simple martial sword but there's a lot of wep DMG loss there), we can bring savage's FTP up to it's 300% TP value of 3.5 on the first hit. Putting it at 4.5 * 0.8 for 3.6. Making it a pretty decent contender.

Hmm, can you have a Machaera +1 and a machaera +2 at the same time? If you can.. Main-hand the WS DMG+10% while off-handing the TP bonus+100(I've heard these do actually work off-hand). I'm not really sure what other atma would be best... I don't think there's any straight WS DMG+ available for one handers, and the value of raw str/mnd is kinda limited under brew.

Well, I think you could get some pretty good Savage Blade dmg, but it'd be alot of work to set it up right. There are probably simpler alternatives. Still, it was a fun idea to play with. Maybe I'll try it on something magic resistant sometime.

Edit: Hmm, forgot about dual-wield. That should add an extra hit to the ws, no? So, 5.5 ftp * 0.8 for 4.4. That's looking pretty good. I'd love to see what a Mighty Strikes'd Savage set up like this would hit for...

What is "worth" it to you? It's a fun toy, it's pretty cool if you're on pld or really like the job, it doesn't make pld suddenly useful though.

Was there ever a conclusive test done to show that Dnc AF3 body is 10% duel wield?

I'm trying to update FFXI after a clean install, I get to the point of the update where it starts to download the files, and it hangs at 125.dat @ 81%, and then just sit's there. It has 16 files left >< Has anyone heard of this or a way to fix it?

I think it's the other way around, "WS damage +" is a stat that doesn't require being on the main hand, which is why you can have it for AMKD augments, but TP bonus requires being on the main hand of the WS, which is why offhanding martial sword doesn't work.

Secondly, WAR can't use magian swords, so you can't use mighty strikes with that setup.

Martial anelace would still be a pretty good choice for WAR, though. In the grand scheme of things, 20 base damage difference when your total damage after WSC is >800 isn't all that big of a deal.

I thought it was found that magian TP bonus weapons functioned differently than normal martial weapons, and could proc in the off-hand. With WS DMG+ being the reverse.

Ahh, right.. War can't wear magian swords. Good point. Well, I'm not a war. Mighty Strikes as a dmg booster probly wouldn't have even occurred to me at all if it hadn't been mentioned earlier.

I believe this is correct. At the very least a clear example was shown of a magic WS not benefitting from offhand WS_DMG fusetto. I don't remember seeing a test with regards to the TP bonus in offhand, but it's been repeated several times on these forums.

Then maybe it was me who got them backwards. I just know one works and one doesn't. I guess my "because other non-weapon gear slots can have it" assumption is moot anyways since WotG earring can get TP Bonus too.

    190base delay per hand, dnc90 and af3+2 body: 44 tp after 10 hits > 7 to 13% DW
195.5 (195 and 196 give the same tp values) base delay per hand: 44tp after 10 > 9 to 14% dw
    206 base delay per hand: 45tp after 10 > 6 to 11% dw

Net, it's 9-11% DW, I don't have enough options to test.

LONG TABLE if you have better options to test > Assumes 30% base DW already, DW% is for equipment only
    Spoiler: show
