My non food non leg WS gear (which I think is somewhat ideal for WAR/SAM) comes out to be 28% DA. I use Breeze Gorget + Breeze Belt. Assuming that the first hit must proc for double attacks to proc (which would only produce minor differences anyways), Ukko's would average out to be around 3.54 fTP.
0.95*[(2.0+50/256)+(0.95)*(1.0*0.28)]+0.95[(1.0)+(0.95)*(1.0*0.28)] = 3.54095
Adding 5% more Double Attack yields the following.
0.95*[(2.0+50/256)+(0.95)*(1.0*0.33)]+0.95[(1.0)+(0.95)*(1.0*0.33)] = 3.63120
Thus the marginal gain yield from Double Attack alone is 2.54%. My STR is 91+49 = 140, then add 4 for Carbonara I suppose. Ukonvasara is DMG 131 with a weapon rank of 14 requiring dSTR ≥ 84 to cap at a value of 22. Mobs with 60 VIT or more would be uncapped (outside of Abyssea), which is likely going to occur on anything worth gearing for. In Abyssea, however, you're mostly likely going to be capped with cruor buffs alone as long as you have all of the +10 attribute abyssites. 10 STR is going to add 5 to WSC (could potentially add 6 but extremely unlikely and you'd probably have to have gimp gear or something) and then 2 or 3 to fSTR (if it's uncapped.) The situations in which 10 STR alone would yield a marginal gain of at least 2.54% to WD looks something like this.
Code:
+WSC +fSTR Base WD Occurence in Abyssea Occurence out of Abyssea
5 0 196 Likely Weak Mobs Only
6 0 235 Unlikely Unlikely and Weak Mobs Only
5 2 274 Unlikely Somewhat Likely
6 2 313 Unlikely Unlikely
5 3 313 Unlikely Somewhat Likely
6 3 353 Unlikely Unlikely
Base WD represents the maximum preleg number WD could be in order for the listed fSTR and WSC bonuses to exceed a 2.54% marginal gain. I also included a somewhat qualitative look at the occurrence of these situations in/out of Abyssea (as the game is now, assuming you're fighting HNM or whatever.)
For my stuff~
The base DMG on Ukon is 131, and 144 STR is going to yield an WSC of 73. fSTR is going to max out at 22 but probably around 19 or 20 outside of Abyssea on HNM and such. Either way, that's at least a preleg WD of 223. In Abyssea, cruor buffs are going to push that number even more to the point where it exceeds 235, thus AF3 is better without even considering the +5 Attack it has over Hachiryu Haidate. Outside of Abyssea, it can only compete in situations where fSTR is uncapped. The 'worst case scenario' for AF3 is probably right around the preleg WD of 223.
Code:
+WSC +fSTR Base WD Marginal Gain Attack Defect
5 2 223 3.14% 0.58%
5 3 223 3.59% 1.01%
The Base WD in this case is the WD I used for the WSC and fSTR bonuses (I only included the two situations I ever thought would occur this time around.) The marginal gain is the marginal gain produced by the bonuses. The attack defect is the marginal gain that must be produced by +5 attack in order for the AF3+2 to win. I don't really feel up to quantifying this, to be honest, but either way it would probably be pretty close. If Hachiryu is better in those situations, then it won't be by much and certainly isn't one of the upgrades I'd ever shit bricks over.
