Available for pickup 5/13-5/21. My manager said we aren't getting them instead until may 1st, just came out on the computers.
This just in, you can go into your local BB and pre-order, and you should have 1 may 1'st.
Transformer looks hot, but I think I will get an iPad for at least 2011-early 2012, and resell it for a good return when android is more reliable and comparable app store and what have you
53$ to pre-order @ BB for the in-store shipment. Btw headspace, the truck carrying our merchandise to replace stolen crap? Crashed on the way to our BB, so now we are in @ 3AM to unload TWO FUCKING TRUCKS.
hahahaha holy shit.
I love my low revenue band store and our one 2k max truck a week.
Everyone who was in @ 6 today ended up playing basketball outside for 6 hours since our supe was going to pay us anyway since it was best buy's fault. Best day ever.
should have my tablet by tomorrow, really surprised how quickly they are selling out everywhere
Motorola's quarterly earnings report is today. I am really interested if they will admit how many Xooms they actually sold. One analyst estimated they sold as little as 25K. Of course, analysts are usually wrong but even 100K is disappointing. They were estimating prior to launch that MMI would sell 1mil in the first quarter alone and as many as 3-4mil this year.
That was a couple of weeks ago at the end of the quarter. Now there are new estimates just before the earnings and they are worse. But you are right, Motorola missed their small window to gain market share and now they may be sitting on a lot of inventory they won't be able to sell off in a year.
This is the big dilemma for the hardware makers. Android does not have the tablet market share and the individual hardware makers won't be able to sell enough units to make a profit. Especially not when you factor in the R&D and high cost of components due to low volume buying. The same problem of too many players is in the phone industry but at least you have the additional revenue from data plans.
PC makers have long had to struggle with sacrificing profits for market share in the consumer market. They used to balance this with high profits in the enterprise market. But this safety net no longer exists in the tablet market. With so many companies joining the party and competing hard for market share, there's going to be a lot of companies that lose money over this. All of these non-Apple companies are making iPad clones that are not bringing anything new so price will be the only consideration for the average buyer.
got my tablet in today
haven't really had the time to sit down and play with it much, but so far i'm really loving this device.
Lucky, I can't find a transformer in stock. Best estimates of a site I managed to get an order in time is Juneish :/
Well the May 1st date I was given @ my best buy, was just pushed back to mid-May. Got a special employee news announcement, same ol' bs. I am first in line though, so if we accidentally, or miraculously get one in, it's mine! Until then I get to sit on my hands and be ASUS's bitch.
Amazon is now officially taking orders again, although they are just a pre-order for when they are back in stock. Not sure how long this will stay up, but if were looking for the chance to at least get in line for one, here's the link.

WTF is the "Gravity sensor"? Tablet pop up with a message "you are not in space, there is gravity"
For those also still looking for asus transformer, target has a deal out right now, if you preorder from them, you get $40 off with a coupon code. Estimated ship date 2-4 weeks on their site.
