You guys make me laugh. Regardless of what you might think, the official standard for dirty/clean hits are determined by the NHL. If their ruling was that it wasn't dirty (which can be seen in the lack of fine/suspension, not to mention no penalty on the play), then that's the decision the league stands by. This isn't to say you shouldn't have an opinion on the hit, I'm saying you should relax on criticizing this guy, especially when he's citing the NHL Rulebook made to decide the ruling for this particular play.

Do yourself a favor and don't engage your brain. After all, everyone that disagrees with you is obviously a montreal homer and you have the only impartial view of this. Hitting a guy that isn't paying attention that is 40 feet away from the puck and not in the play because he was skating towards you is totally a legit hockey play.

"A player is allowed the ice he is standing on (body position) and is not required to move in order to let an opponent proceed." - that's the rule on interference.

"48.1 Illegal Check to the Head – A lateral or blind side hit to an opponent where the head is targeted and/or the principal point of contact is not permitted."

Tough to call a check to the head when Halpern initiated contact. Ference did not have to move, and was entitled to the ice he was on.
But keep thinking it was a penalty.

Bruins fans have come to accept they can never be at fault since they have Campbell on their team.

The only reason montreal lost G7 is cause they played like complete morons the first 10 minutes. Both goals were INCREDIBLY sloppy.
