I hope not. He has done a great job coaching imo, not much he can do when some of our top players disappear in the playoffs. Ovechkin played great but he can't do it alone.

Good news is, I don't have to worry about finding somewhere to watch Caps' games when I go to Hawaii in a week.

I disagree, respectfully, here's why. The Caps are a great team with some great players. They have torn it up in the regular season for a few years now. Their biggest achilles heel is the playoffs. The game is ramped up, it's more intense, teams don't take a single shift off. Which can't be said for the regular season. And for whatever reason the Caps aren't built for the post season right now. And that comes down to coaching. The Caps are built to take a lead and throttle it to death. They don't have the grit and intensity for a come from behind series. And that comes down to coaching. Boudreau is gone. While he may be loved by his players, Leonsis wants to win. Period. And with how small the window is for a team to be a serious contender to continue pissing away regular season success by regular post season collapses is a sure fire way to make sure some heads will roll.

Boudreau will keep his job I'm guessing. Either that or he'll be arrested for killing and eating the real Nick Backstrom and replacing him with Blake Lively.

E: Responding to Brill, I think McPhee really likes Boudreau, and the entire organization likes the adjustments they made during the season this year. The problem is personnel. For all his leadership and grit, Jason Arnott did dick in the playoffs. Marco Sturm really never solidified a role after he was picked up off waivers. Semin's fade away wrister might be lethal but he fades away ALL THE FUCKING TIME and can't drive into a 50/50 puck or a board battle. I think we have a lot of guys who can win, and a year of experience will only help Carlson, Alzner, Johansson and the like. But BB isn't the problem. Well, except for his local commercials. Those are fucking terrible.

It's been longer than that, because before that we missed the playoffs.

Yup. Just looked it up. The last time we beat a non-Rangers team in the playoffs was the Buffalo Sabres in '98 in the ECF. Esa Tikkanen's epic whiff against Detroit really did a number on us, huh?
