The players are the reason the Caps fall apart in the playoffs.
There are two Alex Semins, one who is a complete beast and the other who is a complete retard. Semin constantly disappears offensively and when he does, he also gives the puck up easily, makes retarded passes and then commits stupid penalties. I would love if we could trade him because for all the times I scream YESS SEMIN, I probably scream WTF semin twice as much.
Backstrom was bad all year offensively and horrible in the playoffs. His passes were nothing special and he stopped shooting the puck this year. He constantly tried to make perfect passes when he had a chance at a good shot. Hopefully he gets back into last year's form.
Green played good in the NYR series. Then came TB and he made several retarded pinches and was trying way too hard to play offensively and put his partners in bad situations. Hannan did the same thing and he isn't as good as Green offensively and is slow as shit.
Arnott and Sturm were non-factors. If there is one coaching decision I question it is why Sturm was playing. He was a non-factor since we picked him up. He's fast but he couldn't finish, couldn't pass and I never saw him play well offensively or defensively. I don't understand sitting Hendricks who was playing good, instead of sitting Sturm when Knuble came back. Arnott was great in the regular season, good against NY and old against TB.
The Caps need someone like NY's Boyle, SJ's Clowe, etc. A big physical guy who is good in the corners and goes to the net and just sits there. We have too many skill forwards who don't get physical enough and don't go to the net. That's part of why our PP sucks atm, everyone sits in one spot and just passes the puck around. They need more movement and they need people sitting in front of the net full time. Laich and Knuble are the ones who typically do this for the Caps but Laich seems to forget to get to the net for long stretches and Knuble is too old to be really physical anymore.
I don't think the Caps were awful during the TB series but they didn't play hard enough to win. A couple bad bounces really killed them and seemed to suck out all their life. It seems like the pucks never bounced their way, multiple scrums around the net and the puck somehow always stayed out but when it happened on our end, the puck found the net. (shit like puck off a skate, puck off a stick.)
Hopefully McPhee doesn't sit around and do nothing this off-season like last year.
